Professor Lupin's Secret
"Of course, how could I be so obtuse?" Hermione asked
"What?" asked Ron.
"It means stupid or dim—"
"I know what it means!" Ron scoffed "I meant what are you talking about?"
"Oh" Hermione turned a bright shade of Crimson "Remember when Professor Lupin was
sick and couldn't teach?"
"Yeah and he sent Snape? He made us write two whole rolls of parchment on werewolves!
That obdurate git wouldn't let up on Harry even though he had quiditch!" Ron snarled
bitterly.
"I know I mean it wasn't even his business to give us homework! It's not even his subject!"
cried Harry.
"Yes I know" Hermione huffed impatiently "That's not the point! Werewolves! Ron, do you
remember what stage the moon was in that night?"
"Sorry I, unlike you, don't care." Ron said "What does it matter?"
"What does it matter? Guys, think about it! Professor Lupin is sick for one day, the one
day of the month where there's a full moon and Snape just happens to decide to talk about
werewolves which, conveniently, happen to change only during a full moon."
"Hermione are you trying to tell us Lupin's a werewolf?" Harry asked.
"Yeah or are you just being officious to prove that you are oh so omniscient?" Ron asked
irritated that they were still in the library.
"So you do read." Hermione said.
Harry laughed.
"Oh shut up Harry!" Ron said grinning. He was too proud to admit that Hermione's comment
amused him.
"But yes, that's exactly what I'm trying to say." Hermione said.
"That your telling us stuff we really don't want to know to prove you're a know it all?" Ron
asked.
"No Ronald." Hermione said irritably "Lupin's a werewolf. That's why he was absent. Snape
probably thought it was funny to teach us about werewolves cause he obviously hates
Lupin."
"Honestly Hermione, you really think Lupin's a werewolf?" Ron snorted.
"Yes I do." She snapped.
"Hermione might be right. It makes sense." Harry said.
"Okay fine she's right. Fine. Whatever." Ron snapped. A smirk slowly worked its way onto
Ron's face.
"I bet you 10 Galleons that Snape was really pusillanimous when he found out. I bet he
went screaming like a little girl all the way back to the dungeon." Ron smirked.
Harry snorted.
"You're on. As much as I hate that git I doubt he would ever do that. I don't think I've
ever seen him do anything except glare at us." Harry said
"Your loss." Said Ron.
Hermione rolled her eyes. "Boys." She mumbled shaking her head disapprovingly.
