Jealously by Rosa17
"Marian" said Robin, taking her by the crook of her arm, leading her away from the gang and the constant stare of the Count.
"What?" she replied looking at him puzzled.
They had just formed a plan with the Count's help to rob the Sheriff from his riches he had stored in his strong room. It was a good plan, an exciting and dangerous plan, but one they would all risk their lives for.
When they were hidden from the gang and the Count he gently pushed her up against a tree and looked at her intently.
"You are still jealous" she stated, rolling her eyes at him and smirking softly.
"No!" he immediately said defending himself.
She looked at him shaking her head in disbelief "You are too big for your boots"
"What?"
"You are jealous and too scared or too proud to admit it. I am only doing this so we will get the money, for you, for England" she continued in an urgent whisper, adding "I am playing the Sheriff at his own game, a game, with this new plan I hope he does not win and you are jealous. It does not suit you"
"How am I supposed to feel? I should be the one spending time with you, not him" he replied, in a low voice.
"Him? He has a name it is Frederick"
"And it seems to roll off your tongue with surprising ease and familiarity"
"Stop it. You know I am not doing this out of choice"
"If you had joined the gang in the first placeā¦"
Marian cut him off "If I had joined the gang in the first place the Sheriff would be about to tear England to pieces and there would have been nothing you could have done to have stopped it" she hissed at him, he was so infuriating at times and now was one of those times.
Their eyes blared into each other's each trying to win this trifle argument. His hand came up and caressed her neck and she could feel herself responding to his touch. Part of her wanted to shake him off, to punish him for his unreasonable jealousy. But the other part of her didn't want them to part on bad feelings and this part won out.
Robin annoyed with himself now for giving into jealously when the future of England was at stake, knew that they had to get the plan moving. Standing here semi alone with Marian in the forest was not going to get the job done, but there was time just for one little kiss.
His hands buried themselves in clouds of her hair as he leant in for the kiss. As their lips met she gave a small tremor of response and he deepened the moment savouring the taste and feel of her in his embrace. Almost too soon it was over; they laced hands and walked back to the waiting gang and Frederick, who were all growing impatient, for the rescue operation to commence. Robin still not liking the thought of her with the Count accepted it for what it was, part of the plan to outwit the Sheriff.
Turning back to the gang after Marian and the Count had departed he said as cheerily as he could muster "Come on lads we have work to do"
The End.
