"Ugh," Riza muttered, "What is that …" She looked up, recognizing what it was. "…smell?"

"Roy, what's going on?" Riza said as she stepped into the kitchen. Roy, looking like more of a dork than ever with Riza's frilly mint-white apron on, smiled. "Cookies is what's going on, dear." he said, kissing her on the cheek.

Riza tried her best to feign a smile. She knew Roy thought he was doing her a favor, but… his cooking. She knew from the timer the cookies were only 'half-done', yet she could already smell smoke. How did Roy manage to burn everything?

--

After fifteen minutes which Roy insisted keeping the cookies in the oven, finally, the miraculously bad smell was allowed to escape into the air. Riza opened the oven door carefully, knowing well to keep low to the ground, as a cloud of black smoke puffed into the patiently waiting Roy's face. He smiled, still pretending that he had succeeded, and took out the cookie sheet. Riza opened the window so that the air could eat up as much of the smoke as possible.

A while passed, and eventually they were able to see the result of Roy's attempt at "cooking".

--

Ah- so that was how he they had managed to begin to burn so early on. Instead of forming the cookie dough into nice little balls that would flatten into nice little cookies, Roy had basically thrown crumbled mounds of dough onto the sheet and allowed the small, flammable particles to "bake". The plate was covered in the many small, dark little rocks of stuff that looked like the aftermath of some kind of landslide. Riza jokingly wondered to herself about the poor little cookie fairies that had probably passed as a result of her beloved's attempt at making cookies.

"Tada," Roy said, picking up a barely-together mound of thingy and holding it up to Riza's mouth. "You first dear."

Riza tried sincerely not to look mortified. "Ummm…" before she could reject the stuff Roy urged it delicately into her mouth and she was forced to go through with the procedure. Hm… once you break through the outside layer, the inside isn't so bad. Not all of the flavor was burned out of the middle part. She chewed and nodded as if she approved, disguising her dislike with an awkward smile.

Roy, pleased enough, merrily bit into one, and gagged.
