The Girl's Spark
Chapter 1
Ellie stands in the archway of the new house, her old black suitcase by her side. She's wearing a sunflower dress with black tights and red vans. As she looks around the house her three half-sisters run into the room squealing and screaming each pulling her dark brown plat as the pass. "GO AWAY!" she yells at them and they just stare at her with evil grins on their faces. "Ellie!" calls her mother whilst she's unloading boxes from their grey minivan. She quickly walks to the car and helps unload her belongings which only needed one box. She looks down to find that her photo frame of her dad is broken (Ellie's dad died in a truck accident when she was 9)As Ellie walks back into the house her sisters have already taken everything out of their boxes and a huge mess is covering the lounge room floor. As she walks past she whispers "Idiots," with a smirk on her face. Tara, the eldest just looks at Ellie as she walks. She finds the stairs leading up to the second floor; the stairs are a light green color with a brown rug down the middle. There are four rooms upstairs, one quite large, two medium sized rooms and a small one. She immediately picks the middle sized room as it is the furthest away from her sister's rooms. Ellie and her sisters have never gotten along; they were born to the mother's old boyfriend who cheated on her and now Ellie's stuck with three half-sisters. Tara the eldest is 5 and the twins Kat and Maddi, 3. They do their best to make Ellie's life hell. From stealing her things to embarrassing her in public, they'll do anything to make her cry. Ellie's room has blue walls and a wide window looking over at the house next door. A closet is off to the side with a door leading to a bathroom. She put down her box just as the removalists came in with her bed, desk and bookshelf.
As night comes around most of Ellie's belongings are in place, "This almost looks like my old room," She thinks to herself. She then places down the broken photo frame of her dad on her bedside table. "Ellie!" calls her Mum. She walks down stairs and looks over to the family photo on the wall. "I'm such an outcast," she thinks. Her Mum and sisters all have blonde hair and blue eyes and she has dark brown hair and hazel eyes. "Come on Ellie," her Mum calls again. Quickly Ellie walks into the kitchen and smells the sweet smell of lasagna out of the oven. She takes a big whiff and sits down to begin eating.
"Did you get your room finished?" asks Mum.
"Yeah," Ellie replies
"Does it look good?"
"Yea"
"Not feeling wordy tonight. Only saying one word at a time"
"I'm tired, OK"
Ellie storms off to her room and flops down on her bed. She looks over at her phone and sees a text message from her old best friend Tess; it reads "Hey Elliephant." (That's what everyone used to call her). She deletes the message and rolls over and falls asleep.
