Edmund was annoying Lucy to no end as she baked, tasting the batter and smearing chocolate in her hair. Lucy quickly spun around and grabbed Edmund's hand with a strong hold, halting its movements as she glared at him with a fierce, regal glint in her eyes. Even at the age of fifteen and fourteen, the way Edmund and Lucy interacted hasn't changed.

"Dear sister, please let go of my hand. I apologize profusely for my interference." Edmund pleaded sincerely with a hint of a smile on his lips. Lucy chuckled and quietly replied with a cheerful "Brother mine, I shall let go of your hand as your apology has been accepted."

Edmund hugged Lucy and quietly laid his chin on Lucy's head.

"What worries you, brother mine?" Lucy asked quietly.

"Peter and Susan… they've been arguing all week over every single little thing." Edmund replied, and as he finished speaking, the two heard two angry voices start to rise from the living room.

"Like right now… what's wrong with Susan, Lu? What happened to her… all she ever cares about is make-up and parties and boyfriends!" Edmund whispered heatedly.

Lucy quietly turned around and kissed the top of Edmund's head and made him sit on a stool. Edmund pulled Lucy to him and made her sit on his lap as she giggled with cheerfulness that only she can possess.

"Ed, that's not the only thing that is worrying you, isn't it?" Lucy asked gently.

"Lu, is it wrong that I want you to promise that you don't end up anything like her…?" Edmund asked brokenly.

"No, Edmund, it isn't wrong for you to ask me that question because you're worried. You care for us, and you don't want to lose your only sisters to the thunderstorm that is the modern world." Lucy replied, snuggling into Edmund's chest.

Edmund started to cry softly into Lucy's shoulder as she comforted him.

"Something, something is breaking apart our family Lu… what can we do?"

"Edmund, all we can do is have faith that Aslan knows what he is doing, for everything happens for a reason." Lucy replied knowingly.

"Lu, how do you always have complete faith in Aslan and how do you always know the perfect thing to say?" Edmund asked in shock.

"Edmund, first of all, I have faith in Aslan because without Aslan, we would have never discovered Narnia, and we would have never become monarchs of such a beautiful land. He has taught me many lessons that I keep close to my heart. And secondly, I know exactly what to say because you are my brother, and I know you, and when I say something, I mean it." Lucy replied.

Edmund quietly kissed Lucy's knuckles and whispered "Thank you" before kissing the top of her head. He played with a lock of her hair as she played with his hands. They stayed in that position until they heard the door open. They looked up as Susan and Peter walked in. Susan scoffed and looked at Lucy and Edmund with disdain written all over her face.

"Aren't you too old to be sitting in Edmund's lap Lucy? The two of you need to grow up!" Susan shouted in a scolding manner. She quickly strode out of the room. Peter quietly stared at the back of the door and quietly whispered "What changed?"
