First Words

I almost drop the plate I'm holding. I spin around and run over to the high chair sitting by the table. "Did you say something Akhito? Can you repeat it for mommy? What did you say baby? Can you say mommy?"

Sasuke sets down the paper and leans in closer. We're hovering over our baby boy when he speaks again. "Bastard." He says, looking at Sasuke.

I feel my eye twitch. No. This can't be happening. My baby's first word was bastard. Who the fuck taught him that? Thousands of occasions flash through my head, and I realize many of them contain Naruto calling Sasuke Teme, Douche bag, and the most common, bastard. Great. Just great. My baby is tainted.

"NARUTO!"

I charge down the hall and almost break down his door. "YOU FUCKING MORON! YOU DESTROYED EVERYTHING! DO YOU KNOW WHAT HE JUST SAID? DO YOU? I'LL KILL YOU!"

I lunge at Naruto, but he dodges out of the way and runs to the kitchen. I grab a knife from the drawer and scream at him. I feel a hand wrap around my hand and I look behind me to see Sasuke. "Put the knife down Sakura. Let's just talk this out-"

"DID YOU NOT JUST HEAR WHAT YOUR SON CALLED YOU? I'LL KILL THAT IDIOT! HE TOOK AWAY AKHITO'S FIRST WORD. He was supposed to say mommy." I mutter the last part.

"What did I do?" Naruto whimpers. He's cowering in the corner.

As if to make the situation worse, Akhito shouts, "Bastard!", while pointing at Sasuke. Naruto looks from Akhito, to us, then back to Akhito again. He bursts out laughing, and I lunge for him again. Sasuke wraps a hand around my waist to hold me back. "LET ME AT HIM! I'LL KILL HIM! I WILL, I SWEAR!"

I finish the dishes and sigh. My hands are glowing bright red from the hot water. I think I need a hot shower and to go to bed. I'm still upset about Akhito's first word. Naruto left to spend the night at Kiba's place. It's a good thing he left, or he'd be in a shallow grave in the back yard by now. I pick Akhito up off his blanket and take him to his room. I lay him in his crib and kiss him goodnight. "Bastard." He says.

I scowl. "Yes. Uncle Naruto is a bastard."
