I'm sure this has been done over and over again, but I wanted to give it a try, so here goes (:
This isn't beta'd so consider yourselves warned.
Peter dropped his heavy duffle bag in the middle of the hallway, ignoring the constant motion of people bustling through the hallways. Move in day was more hectic than he'd imagined, and he couldn't help the tinge of anxiety that colored his thoughts as he looked around for a sign, telling him which direction his room was in. He pulled the paper out of his pocket, room 207, it should be around here somewhere, his new home for the coming year. He was apprehensive, sure, about living at a boarding school, and even more so about having a roommate…but he was trying to stay positive about this.
"Peter, honey, pick up your bag. It's getting dirty." His mother's blaring voice came from over his shoulder and he looked back to see her carrying a basket full of sheets and towels, her gaze roaming critically around their surroundings.
He silently picked his bag up and slung it back over his shoulder before finally finding what he was looking for. A sign pointed down one hallway indicating rooms 200-210. He moved forward, finding the room in question halfway down. The door was half way open and Peter pushed it open with his foot.
He could have looked around, noticing the peeling paint on the window sill, the curious stain on the carpet over in the corner or the small futon against one wall with the mismatched cushions, but at the moment he was a little distracted. A slight blush crossed his face.
Stretched across one of the beds was a boy, his roommate, obviously. He was leaning back, arms behind his head, with his plain gray tshirt riding up to show a strip of tanned and toned skin. Peter cursed himself immediately for the things that a simple expanse of skin did to him. It wasn't like he could room with a guy and never see him shirtless, or wearing even less, but Peter's ears were beginning to turn pink with his thoughts, so he silenced them, clearing his throat.
Blue eyes met brown, and Peter swore he felt his heart miss a beat as he locked eyes with the boy on the bed. A breathtaking smile crossed the boy's face as he sat up and surveyed Peter.
"Hey, I'm Jason." He introduced himself, standing up and moving towards Peter with a hand extended. Peter's bag fell from his shoulder and onto the floor unnoticed
"Peter." He responded, reaching out to take his new roommate's hand. Their fingers brushed and both boys felt the warmth that rose within them at the touch, both holding on to the other's hand longer than appropriate.
"Peter, pick up your bag, its blocking the doorway." The sound of Claire's voice broke them out of their trance and their hands fell to their sides. Peter picked up his bag from the floor again and moved towards the unclaimed bed, not unaware of the blue eyes that watched him as he went.
This is really short, I know, but I was in bio class and just didn't want to pay attention, so here's a crappy short story. Tada (: I might add a chapter, like their first kiss or something, but we'll see.
