Letters to no one

Andromeda Tonks paced the kitchen, every so often glancing back at the counter- or more accurately the letter which was placed there. She had yet to decide what the best course of action would be. The owl whom had delivered the letter and was awaiting further instruction, or perhaps a treat, was growing impatient and took up its own pacing, hobbling across the counter, flapping raucously from one chair top, to the edge of the cupboards and so on, being sure to graze a frazzled Andromeda with her wings by means of obtaining her attention.

"Would you stop it!" Andromeda growled, waving her hands frantically around her head, shooing the owl away, who retreated into the farthest corner. Andromeda swore the owl gave her a look, but what would you expect of a Malfoy owl.

This was the third letter just this week she had received from her sister, and despite her better judgment Andromeda was becoming worried. Under regular circumstance Andromeda would have sent the owl back by now, and have fed the letter to the fire without bother to so much as crack the seal, but Cissy was being oddly persistent. Not to say she hadn't been persistent before. In the beginning she had written almost daily, back when Andromeda still read them, she never replied however and Narcissa grew tired of her one sided conversations. She continued to send post cards on holidays, and birthdays - both those of her and her sisters' family, and tickets to all of Draco's piano concerts and invites to all of their parties, but the updates got shorter and less detailed, the x's and o's became sincerely; she was moving on. So why all of a sudden this urgency? Andromeda knew better then to get involved, but what if it were something serious. Even if it were serious it was none of her business, she was done with that family, that life; she had not gotten out to go charging back in. Andromeda shook her head, still pacing as all of this ran through her mind.

With a regretful sigh Andromeda tentatively picked up the envelope, crossed the kitchen, turned the burner on and dropped the letter into the open flame.

Narcissa would be fine - besides, she didn't owe her anything.

AN* Review please! if you are curious as to what's going on with Narcissa, please let me know, i have it made up in my mind but unless there is interest it might not go anywhere.
