As the night grew darker, I walked quietly down the winding streets of Salem, carefully placing each foot on the uneven cobblestones, which made up the road. I glanced at each glistening puddle that I passed them, staring warily at my rippled reflection. I stopped at a larger puddle, which looked more like a mirror; it was unmoved, as motionless as glass. I noticed the glint of my necklace in the dim streetlights. I looked down at it, examining closely. The cast letters of, "Best Friends" boared themselves into my brain. I remember scowling at them, my grim frown shown back at me in the puddle. I tore the necklace off and held it tightly in my hand and continued walking. A little ways down the road, I opened my hand, and peered down at the little silver half heart, with 3 diamonds in it, which would have fit perfectly into the other half. My so-called "Best Friend". Shaking my head in disappointment, I tossed it to the ground forcefully. I scoffed lightly "Best Friend", I muttered to myself. "How could I have been so ignorant?" I thought. "Past decade of my life, practically a waste…" the thoughts scrolled threw my mind like marquee. "…I should have know, once she got a boyfriend she would toss me aside. They all told me. I should have listened." My cell phone buzzed in my pocket. I wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone, so I let it go to voicemail. I continued my walk, when my phone buzzed again. I reached into my pocket, and I didn't recognise the number, so I shut my phone off and went forward with my walk home. I clicked the lock to the door open slowly, and crept up the stairs to my room. I was exhausted. I slid off my shoes and changed into my pyjamas, then retired to my bed quietly. I turned on my television and stared at the screen like a brainwashed zombie. As I lie silently in my bed, a picture comes up on the screen. I recognise it instantly. Its my ex-best friend, Luna. When I see the word "Murdered" in bold letters under her picture, my heart almost stopped. As the news anchor broadcasted the story, her distressed expression made it impossible for my eyes to tear away from the screen. "Luna Caraway, stabbed in the heart 3 times, police say the murder weapon was made of silver, and traces of diamonds were found." Piecing things together in my mind made me feel sick, but I continued watching. "Friends of the victim say she was wearing a necklace earlier tonight, but when she was found, she wasn't wearing it." As it went to a commercial I felt myself frozen in place, unable to even take a breath. Suddenly I heard a quiet noise. It sounded like a wind chime…but it was close. The room began to get cooler, and the sound began to get louder. I slowly stood up, and opened my door. Lying in the doorway were two small objects. I bent down to get a loser look, and when I saw them, I felt gravity work against me and I fell backward.
"Salem News Channel 5. This morning a local named Lacey Cinema was found dead in her apartment. She was to be questioned in the case of Luna Caraway. At the scene where Cinema was discovered, there were two friendship necklaces found, both covered in the blood of both Caraway and Cinema. The necklaces were found placed together, with the words "Best Friends." Other friends of the victims identified the necklaces to be of Luna Caraway, and Lacey Cinema."
