Rain from the sky
By: Dancing Nightmare
The last time I saw him
Was when I was in town
I had two-three days off
So I tracked him down
He had a beautiful wife
(He hadn't lied all that time)
And a three-year-old daughter
That the father admired
We went to the local bar
And talked about stuff
About dreams and goals
And something I can't remember what
---
When we came back
His daughter was sleeping
But just after an hour
She was loudly weeping
He rushed to her side
Asked what was wrong
She said something about a nightmare
Where her parents were gone
He tucked her in bed
He hugged her tight
Gave her a peck on the cheek
And turned off the light
Soon she was dreaming
And I was pretty impressed
He says it's not that hard
Then that I should get children and test
---
The last time I heard him
Was on the phone
When he bragged about his daughter
About how much she had grown
I told him I'm at work
Of course, he didn't care
Because what was more important
Than his daughter's new teddy bear?
Then we started talk serious
About power games and thus
About promotions and our jobs
Then he started goofing around
The last thing I heard from him,
When he was alive
Was his teasing advice of that I should get a wife
---
Now I'm watching him getting buried
His daughter doesn't understand
She asks her mommy
She tugs at her hand
Poor little girl, people will think
It's not easy for such a young one
To lose someone dear
After awhile, people start leaving
Now there are only two people left
My female subordinate and myself
I talk about something
That she doesn't catch
(He always said that
We would be a perfect match)
I try not to cry
I haven't cried in ten years
But I know it's useless to try
I put on my hat
Whispers goodbye
The tears falling from my eyes
Is rain from the sky

Disclaimer: I do not own Fullmetal Alchemist, neither manga nor anime. If I did, then Hughes wouldn't have died, he would have survived the shot. SCREW THE STORYLINE!
Rest in Peace, Hughes :(
EDIT: I did a few minor changes with the poem, hope that's okay.
