The Newcomers

One evening in San Lorenzo found Dulcinea and her feline hero, Puss in Boots, walking around the town.

"This was a lovely day, wasn't it Puss?" Dulcinea asked, as she breathed in the crisp evening air.

"Yes indeed," Puss replied, enjoying a little break from his constant wild adventures, "it was nice to have an entire day without anything crazy happening."

No sooner had Puss said that, than they heard some dragon noises coming from the entrance of San Lorenzo. The Sphinx, who was supposed to be guarding the entrance, had fallen fast asleep and didn't hear the dragons at all. A tall male walked right past her and curiously started to explore the town, looking for any signs of life. The two cats ran up to him, afraid that he might be there to start trouble; however, Hiccup, (which is what they later learned his name to be), immediately put his hands up to show that he wasn't there to cause any harm, while introducing himself in a friendly and non-threatening tone of voice.
"Hello there cats, my name is Hiccup."

Puss eyed the stranger over warily, "Hiccup you say? Hm, that is an interesting name indeed…what is your business here at San Lorenzo, Hiccup? You are not here to be disturbing the peace, correct? Because if you are-" Puss somewhat aggressively grabbed the hilt of his sword while pointing an accusing finger at the human, "you my friend have messed with the wrong town!"

"N-no," Hiccup shook his head vigorously to emphasize his point, "I didn't come here to hurt anyone or destroy anything. I'm here because I have these two dragons and I've been trying to find a place for them to stay and—well, we stumbled across your town so I thought I'd check it out."
Puss gave Hiccup a criticizing look before glancing over at Dulcinea, who gave him one of her generous smiles in return.

"Well, Mr. Hiccup, as long as your dragons are friendly, you are most welcome to stay in our town with us," Dulcinea replied in her usual cheerful manner. Hiccup opened his mouth to reply but was interrupted as a large black dragon pranced through the entrance and frolicked like a happy puppy over to him before nuzzling his head under Hiccup's hand. Hiccup grinned at his dragon's antics and fondly rubbed his nose.
"Cats, meet Toothless."
With what was meant to be a friendly smile, Toothless opened his mouth to show two rows of razor sharp teeth, causing both Puss and Dulcinea to jump back in fear.

"Dragon, what big teeth you have," Puss said, leaning forward to get a better look.
"Oh my," Dulcinea gasped, "He doesn't appear to be very toothless to me!"
"D-don't worry," Hiccup said, trying to calm them down as he scratched the bottom of Toothless' chin which resulted in his teeth disappearing into his gums, "He's not going to hurt you, are you bud?"
Toothless responded with a happy purr while wagging his tail.

"Toothless is very playful and intelligent with lots and lots of energy," Hiccup said, "he can also shoot these purple blasts called plasma blasts at things- but he'll only do it at bad guys-I promise."

Just at that moment another dragon bounded through the entrance, also jumping over the Sphinx, who was still sleeping like there was no tomorrow, and made her way over to the group.
"Oh, and this is a Light Fury," Hiccup motioned to the white dragon that had situated itself beside Toothless, "she's gentle and playful like Toothless, but fiercely protective when danger is present," he explained, "don't worry, she won't hurt you either."

After watching the dragons for a little while, and seeing how friendly they were, Dulcinea happily walked up to them and gave each a pat on the nose.
"You are such good dragons aren't you? Yes you are! Aw, you guys are so cute!" Dulcinea squealed excitedly as she put her arms around both of their necks and hugged them, "you most certainly can stay in San Lorenzo with us!"

"But Dulcinea-!" Puss started to say but was cut off.
"Now now Puss, they really are nice dragons," she said, "and we have more than enough room for them here. You may all stay as long as you want to," she said in a hospitable manner. Puss frowned at the three newcomers, most especially Hiccup, with his hand still clutching his sword's hilt. After observing the dragon rider for another minute with scrutinizing glances that were making Hiccup more than extremely uncomfortable, Puss finally decided that he could be trusted and released his sword's handle from his paw before extending it to Hiccup with a now friendly smile.
"Well in that case," he said as he gripped Hiccup's hand in his, "Welcome to San Lorenzo!"

Hiccup shook it with a sigh of relief, "Oh, thank you so much you two!"
"You are most welcome," Dulcinea replied, "would you like a tour of the town?"
"I'd love one! But my and the dragons are kind of tired right now, so could you both show us a place where we can sleep?"

"Of course," Puss said as he turned to his right and started off toward an inn, "follow me, the rooms are right this way."
The cats walked the three to the hotel and gave the newcomers the rooms they desired. After situating their guests in a comfortable place, both Dulcinea and Puss went over to Pajuna's to tell her all about the new San Lorenzan's, (and, perhaps to get a glass of leche too). As they say went to her cantina it was still light out because daylight savings had begun.

Good night to everyone.
