A/N: Thanks for reading. This is just a poem I wrote when I was bored. Forgive the periods as means to separate the stanzas - the horizontal lines didn't really work well to do the job, and empty spaces just don't show up.

A Tale of Mei

.

In kindly walls of home of Chang

Of golden man the rumors sang.

Much like the Western Sage,

Celebrity of modern Age –

.

To learn from Princess' family.

How this thing could have come to be?

Much silk in grounds of green,

Through moon gate, him they would have seen.

.

Up golden man looked from a scroll

At folks not there just for a stroll.

He poised an inquiry

Of what they all had come to see.

.

A little girl toward table's rim,

Whose brightly eyes were so not dim.

"You, why have you come here?

And left at home your fam'ly dear?"

.

The golden man then told his tale,

Of why his fam'ly love not pale.

Him love had brought out east,

Now that his country's threat had ceased.

.

Of royal daughters and the sons,

For special one came he at once.

He spoke with smiling face,

And as for falsehood, not a trace.

.

A princess of a lowly clan,

To save her people she need plan.

As girl, had she no pow'r

But saving panda from a show'r.

.

Her kindness, even proved back then,

Would serve her well with brav'ry when

The Emp'rer had caught ill:

It gave her strength, her clan to heal.

.

A quest for immortality

From suffering her clan would free.

She'd heard, in country far,

Of alchemy, a golden star.

.

He knew the ways of death and life.

A question would be worth her strife.

He knowledge could impart

To give her clan a brand new start.

.

The princess dreamed with boy to dance

But if she died, she'd get no chance.

In desert pressed she on,

Her dreams too helped her courage don.

.

But Mei did falter on her way.

In foreign country bones would lay?

Yet she'd come far from Xing,

Her clan some future hope to bring.

.

A servant came to her from blue,

To man her took with strange tattoo.

But other Xingese came as well.

To which would be the secret tell?

.

The princess found the prodigy,

But not as romance dreamed was he.

His temper lost with word

Was he as skillful as she'd heard?

.

She had great crushing of her heart,

But couldn't country yet she part

With no way to save home

And stop her tale a sorry poem.

.

And once she'd took the Elrics on,

She found her panda, she was gone!

She searched down underground,

Her panda with the Elrics found –

.

In armor always I was tied,

Her panda poor was forced to hide.

We later met again:

The cold of Briggs were we then in.

.

The military, their attack,

Made her to flee through tunnels back.

And I came in alarm:

Through tunnels lay a path of harm!

.

My country faced a horrid fate

If I and Brother stopped too late.

My heart found Princess kind.

With me to work she didn't mind.

.

Her friends, we all fought 'gainst the mean

to save her clan – an Envy seen.

But Princess' heart was kind:

To friends' own Woes not turned eye blind.

.

By armor's side she came and fought

On day that was our doom, they'd thought.

A woman great is she –

She helped us friends our nation free.

.

Courageous, kind, as fair and smart,

She owned from then this living heart.

True body gained that day,

I couldn't stay from her away.

.

So when I could survive hot sand,

I traveled far to her own land.

Now by a lily pond,

The golden man wore smile fond.

.

See you now I came not here

To leave the fam'ly I hold dear?

Because on family,

I'll ask her soon to marry me.
