Sheldon Cooper was a very unique individual, any of his friends would tell you that. He loved order, routine, and he hated change. Every week he did the same thing, day after day, and for the most part his friends didn't mind as they had nothing better to do. Then everything had changed on September 24th, 2007 when a blonde waitress named Penny moved in across the hall.
Leonard, of course, was instantly smitten with the pretty girl but Sheldon had no interest in things like that. He was more interested in keeping his life and routine in order. Then the blonde had befriended Leonard, and Howard, and even Rajesh despite his not being able to talk to women and Sheldon had no choice to accept the blonde as apart of their group.
It was soon after he had finally accepted her that he realized she was chaos to his order. The Joker to his Batman (in his mind anyway) and that he would have to fight harder to maintain the order, to stop the chaos from consuming his life. His efforts were less than satisfactory, sadly, as one by one his friends (or at least the closest thing he had to friends) became addicted to chaos. Still, however, Sheldon refused to allow himself to succumb to chaos; after all without order the world would be in anarchy and he despised anarchy.
Then, after a trip to the Arctic, Leonard and Penny had began dating and so of course the blonde stayed over more and more as if determined to disrupt his routine. Leonard, much to his credit, tried explaining to her that Sheldon was all about routine and order, but it did not good to try to explain the benefits of order to chaos (again, in Sheldon's mind), and so he was forced to make his own food, a menial task for someone of his brilliance.
But, despite all of his efforts, he was starting to grow to like Penny. She was reliable (sometimes), and she seemed to care about him and Leonard (something he didn't really care about but he understood that in the modern social world that was important), and she handled his quirks quite well if he did say so himself. The fact that he cared about Penny was starting to scare him, she was supposed to be his complete opposite, his arch enemy (maybe a little extreme, but he was a man of extreme views), he was not supposed to care about his arch enemy, his opposite, the chaos that was slowly consuming his routine and order.
Finally it had hit him after they'd been robbed, chaos was overwhelming and sometimes order was not strong enough to combat it. Sheldon Cooper who loved order, routine, and hated change was being overwhelmed by the chaos, he may have his routines but the order to his life was gone, it was now chaotic, but yet he had stopped caring. It had taken a robbery for him realize something very important. Penny had introduced him to chaos and now he was addicted.
He was addicted to chaos.
Note: So here's my first attempt at a Big Bang Theory fic so I hope you guys like it. I've had this idea rolling in my head for various fandoms, but this was inspired by the episode in season 1 where Sheldon cleans her apartment. I don't own BBT or anything related, please read and review!
