One Day
The waves crash on the sandy shore, reaching as far as they can before reluctantly retreating back into the open ocean. The sun is slowly sinking down behind the horizon, sending out its last golden rays as though kissing the water goodbye. Goodbye, my love. Until tomorrow, it seems to say.
She stands barefoot in the sand, her dress damp around her legs from the spray of the water, but she doesn't care. Here, with the ocean, she is free. Free from the rules of society and etiquette. Free to be herself once more.
Elizabeth stares out at the water, reminiscing old memories of those glorious days spending long hours out on the deck of the Black Pearl, feeling the sun beat down on her face and loving every minute of it. Loving every minute she spent with him.
She closes her eyes, remembering tanned skin and tattoos, and a kiss. A fiery, burning kiss that still makes her lips tingle every time she thinks back to it. She still remembers the last word he said to her on that day: pirate.
They'd both denied it would ever work between them - that they'd ever be together. Yet there was something that drew them together, from that fateful day in Port Royal to the kiss, and even to the world's end, rescuing him from the Locker. Even now, she can feel it: that invisible connection that holds them both together even though they are miles apart. He, somewhere out on the ocean, and she, stuck here on the beach.
Yet he would come back for her. Just like she went back for him, even after what she did to him. Even though she'd married Will, Jack would come back for her.
One day, her love would return to her.
