Author's Note: Well this is my first story... and I'd just like to say that I hope you enjoy it. It's about forbidden love, and doing whatever you can to be with the one you love. And by 'whatever you can' I do not mean anything creepy or obsessive. Haha. And all characters and things referring to Final Fantasy belong to Square Enix.
Daydreams
Prologue
What do you do when the things that you lived for has suddenly disappeared right before your eyes?
You can try to tell yourself that it was all just a dream. But the truth is, no matter how much you try to deceive yourself, it's a living nightmare. Days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months, months turn into years, and years feel like an eternity.
Nothing in life turns out how we expect it to be. The friend who you thought would never hurt you, actually only waits for you to turn around so they can stab you in the back. The family who you thought would never abandon, only to find that they would so you could have a "better life". The one and only person that you loved with every fiber in your being, who turns out just to be like everyone else that you regret ever thinking that you could love them that much. Even the enemy who you thought was scum, changes into the only person that you can trust.
We can write the movie of our lives and play it in our heads. But in the real world, we are just the actors. There are no rewind, fast forward, or pause buttons. We have to take life by the horns and make our decisions as if we're standing at the barrel of a gun. If you spend too much time thinking about what you're going to do next, then you've already lost your chance.
I learned the hard way. The excruciatingly hard and painful way.
Maybe she wouldn't have left if I just took that chance and told her to stay. But I couldn't... not with the life that has already been written out for me. I really am just an actor... with a very unfortunate script to act out.
So all I do is stand here on the balcony, in the cold of the night, hoping that one day she will come back. And maybe I won't make the same mistake that I did one year ago.
