A/N: Hello all, this is our first collaborative story so please try your best to be civil with your reviews! :)
The story is set in a modern AU (alternate universe), at a normal school. The characters are around 16 years of age.
The characters may be a tad OOC due to modernization.
Disclaimer: We do not own Harry Potter nor do we own the characters. WE DO OWN THE PLOT THOUGH SO DON'T STEAL. :D
A grumble escaped the brown-haired girl's mouth. She clenched her fists and barely resisted the urge to stand up and yell.
"Malfoy!" she hissed, "Knock it off!"
"Knock off what?" the blond boy replied, an amused smile playing on his lips as he held the paper airplane between his fingers.
The sound of the loud bell signaling the end of class cut off Draco's sentence. Tired of having to deal with his antics, Hermione stood up and stormed out of class, her bag hanging loosely on her shoulders.
A shrill voice called after her. "Hermione! Hermione! Wait up!" Cho ran forward and caught Hermione by the shoulders and whispered in her ear, "Malfoy is such a pain. I don't see why he does this all the time."
With a nonchalant shrug of the shoulders and a flip of the hair, Hermione hastily replied, "Malfoy will be Malfoy."
The pair swerved into the cafeteria and made their way towards the line to purchase their food. As usual, the lunch the school served was, to say the least, disgusting. However, there was no choice but to purchase it due to the early start schedule, leaving no time to prepare one's own food.
Hermione's face contorted in disgust as she saw the the lunch lady slide a plate with peas and mushrooms in her direction. She grabbed it, tossed her money on the counter, and awaited Cho; the two then made their way over to their normal seats.
And there he was. The boy everyone knew. The boy that Hermione was lucky to even be "friends" with. Smart, athletic, and kind - this was Harry Potter. "Hey, Hermione! Cho!" he exclaimed, gesturing for them to take a seat.
Sitting down across from him and staring into his eyes was something Hermione had to do everyday. Yet, every time she sat, she would get lost in his stare. Unfortunately, he was just a "friend". He was anyone's "friend". She wasn't special to him.
Cho leaned over with a cheeky smile and muttered, "Harry's hair is on point today, did you notice? He's so cute."
Hermione gave a small nod whilst slightly rolling her eyes; she was used to Cho's ridiculous, head-over-heels infatuation for Harry by now. But then again, Cho was only a "friend", too. Everyone was his friend. To be his girlfriend, one had to be perfect. She had to surpass the limits of perfection, even.
Hermione knew that her crush on Harry was a dream, but strangely, every day her feelings continued to increase. She never told Cho. As long as she had someone to be with her - in this case, Cho - she would be alright. Unrequited love was never uncommon.
That didn't mean that she was going to set her hopes too low, though. Maybe, just maybe, she could gradually grow closer to Harry. She could try to make him love her back. Somehow.
A/N: Quote of the day: "Well aren't you looking perd today?"
