Just a random Marius/Eponine one-shot that came to me earlier!
I don't own Les Miserables, just in case you're looking for someone to sue...
"Marius, how did you imagine your true love?" Cosette asked as she sat in the garden with her beloved.
"Well, I've always thought that she would have to be kind, though very clever, able to speak her mind, always willing to help a friend, optimistic through the toughest of times, beautiful, even if she can't see it herself..." Marius trailed off, smiling, so lost in his daydream of love that it took him a minute to realize just who he had described.
'Eponine,' He thought, too shocked to even whisper the name.
"She sounds perfect," Cosette said, dragging Marius out of his thoughts.
"Cosette, I must go now," Marius stated, rising from his spot on the bench.
"I love you," Cosette said, wrapping her arms around Marius' neck.
"I love you, too," Marius murmered absently, not sure if he really meant it.
Marius left in a daze, not paying attention to where his feet were taking him.
"'Ponine!" He yelled as soon as she came into sight.
"Monsieur Marius!" She practically yelled, beaming at first, but the smile faded quickly, "Do have another letter for Cosette?"
"No! Eponine, I..."
"What is it, Marius?" Eponine could tell that something was wrong, and she didn't like it.
"I love you," Marius blurted.
For a moment, Eponine's face lit up like the sun, but, just as quickly, it fell.
"It's still light out. I shouldn't be daydreaming," She scolded herself.
"Wait, 'Ponine! I'm here, I'm real. I promise this isn't a dream," Marius said, taking her hand.
You would expect her to be rendered speechless by happiness and love- I mean, come on!Almost everything she says revolves around Marius and her undying love for him- but, no, Eponine was not.
"You're really here?" Eponine questioned, skeptical.
Marius answered by capturing the girl's lips with his.
"I'm here. I'm yours," Marius whispered, leading his true love home.
