The dark, wet sky lit up suddenly, lighting up the dark bedroom as well, illuminating the figures of two women in the bed, and then a few seconds later a loud blast of thunder shook the room. The bed's occupant nearest the window whimpered, and pulled the other woman closer to her. The feel of her lover's nude body against her own, and the scent of her being and the perfume she was wearing, combined with the softness of her short blue hair, calmed her.
She had been sleeping peacefully, thunderstorms didn't bother her much at all, but that last jolt of thunder had awoken her, and then she felt her girlfriend pull her closer to her.
"Sabrina, darling?" she ask, turning over so that the two women were facing each other.
"Erika…I-I'm scared" if it had been anybody else, she would've had denied to her grave.
Erika kissed Sabrina gently. It wasn't often that Sabrina was truly afraid, and it was an even rarer occasion for her to admit it, the only person Sabrina would tell if she was scared was Erika.
Again, thunder shook the room, and Sabrina squirmed deeper into Erika's arms. Their bodies met in places that made Erika's head swim slightly, but she shook the thoughts out of her mind. Her lover didn't need sex, she needed to be held and told she was safe. Erika's needs could wait. She wrapped her arms around Sabrina and kissed her again.
The comforting feeling of her lover's lips calmed Sabrina; her breathing became less rushed, and her heartbeat started to return to normal.
"Sing to me, please?" Sabrina asked.
Erika's eyes had gotten used to the darkness by now, and the look on Sabrina's face melted her heart; her eyes were wide with fear, and her lower lip was trembling. She kissed Sabrina again, even more gently than she had before.
"Nothing's gonna harm you, not while I'm around. Nothing's gonna harm you, no love, not while I'm around" Erika sang in Sabrina's ear.
Sabrina could feel the fear and anxiety leaving her body, but she didn't want Erika to stop. And she told her so.
"No one's gonna hurt you. No one's gonna dare. Others might desert you. Not to worry, just call, I'll be there"
Erika paused for a few seconds to kiss her girlfriend, and then continued to sing.
"Nothing can harm you. Not while I'm around. No one's gonna hurt you. No one's gonna dare. Others may desert you. Not to worry, just call, I'll be there" she sang. "Sabrina?" she whispered.
She discovered that her lover had fallen asleep, and a smile crossed her mouth. That smile grew when she realized that the storm was over.
