CHAPTER 1
Lift your head
LUCY HEARTFILIA
I caught him looking at me with a wide grin plastered on his face. That grin that never failed on making me blush. He's my best friend but with that look and grin he's giving me for the past few weeks he's making me fall for him before I even realized it.
It felt so wrong, but why does it feel so right?
Don't get me wrong, I liked the way he looked at me, as strange as it may seem he took my curiosity easily instead of giving me the creeps.
I looked down, I frowned to myself. Either way I knew that this feeling is one-sided. Maybe I am starting to weird him out, usually it's easy to return his grin with a smile but now it's not. With this feeling along the way, I hope it won't destroy our friendship.
Who am I kidding? He knew me for just a few years, while he knew her for half his age. What's the chance of me winning him against her?
I sighed. I rested my elbow on the counter and my chin on the palm of my left hand. I looked at the empty paper that is in front of me. It's been 2 weeks that I haven't written a thing or two and there's only 2 weeks left before the deadline.
We just finished a job yesterday so I have enough payment for this month's rent. I started to tap the pen on the bar counter with my right hand, sorting out the scenes in my head but all I could see is his face. Have I fallen for him this hard?
"Hey… Luce." He called my name, waving his hand in front of my face. I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at him. He was sitting beside me, his eyes wandering from my own to the empty paper. "That's unusual." He mumbled. I covered the paper in embarrassment, my face starting to heat up.
"What do you mean unusual?" I asked him a bit too fast after covering the paper.
"Well… maybe that's just me." He shrugged looking at me. I raised an eyebrow, I wanted him to just tell me but I don't think I can tell him because curse embarrassment; making my throat dry.
I looked down, staring at the paper again. Hoping words to just suddenly pop out of my mind or words magically appear on the paper.
"First off- Lift your head." He started; he spun my chair around with ease. My eyes now looking straight at his scarf, he then raised my chin with his index finger. Before my eyes met his, I saw his Adam's apple moving up and down as he swallowed. "Then smile." He continued, both of his hands on my cheeks. My eyes went wide at the position we are having, but then I felt his thumbs on the corner of my lips lifting it up.
"Eh?" I stared at him dumb-founded.
"It's just weird when you look down and frown. It's like… it's not you." He mumbled and let his hands fall.
"Don't worry it's still me." I smiled a bit. He then chuckled at what I said, making me pout at him.
"Yeah you are." He nodded with a smile. He then scratched the back of his neck and looked away. Spinning his chair in front of the counter, "Mira, the usual please." He said, making Mira leave for the moment to go get his order.
At that act of his, I spun my self around to face the empty paper. "Don't worry, once that idea of yours pops out, everything will just fall to its rightful place, neh?" He said that's really very encouraging coming from Natsu.
Before I could even get a chance to thank him, Mira came with his order. I looked down on the paper with a smile.
"Thanks, Natsu." I mumbled instead. I knew with that ear of his he could hear me.
