Chapter I

'Should we…kiss?'

Those were the words that Matsuri said when she and Yorito were on the school roof in the dead of night. Yorito looked down into her eyes, surprised at what she had asked so suddenly. Matsuri had only been in his life a few days, but with an expression like the one on her face, there was no way he could feel he could refuse. His heartbeat rose slightly as he thought over the answer. After seconds, which felt like days to Yorito, he broke silence. 'S-sure.' He answered, hoping he made the right choice.

Yorito leaned down towards her, his eyes closed, his heartbeat quickly increasing, his lips coming closer to hers. Before he knew it, he leaned down so far that he crashed onto the floor from over-balancing. He looked up at Matsuri who had moved a few metres from him, laughing at him. 'You fell for it!' She said as she stopped laughing, beaming at her prank on him. Yorito sighed, picking himself up. 'You really had me going there.' He said. She smiled slightly at him, looking back up at the night sky.

'Nee, can we go get some tomato juice?' She asked simply without hesitation. 'I'm kind of thirsty.' Yorito placed his head in his hand. 'Sure…' He sighed, heading for the entrance into the building, the Yaka following him closely behind. They left the school building and headed for the vending machine at the bay.

After getting there, Matsuri got the juice before she could kick the machine as she usually did. Yorito looked at her as she took the first sip. Under the moonlight, she was cute, he thought, cuter than most other girls he knew or had seen. The silence was broken quickly between the two when Matsuri turned to him. 'Yorito, is it okay to stay at yours for a while?' She asked, placing the juice down next to her on the seat. 'I don't really have anywhere to go or have a place to hide when it's daylight.' She added, looking up at the moon.

Yorito smiled, then answered: 'Of course, if it's getting away from that weird man, then you can.' Matsuri looked over to him, with a smile brighter than those she had on her face before. 'Thank you.' She said, standing up and stretching. She then turned around to him. 'Well, let's go, it'll be light soon.' She said, walking over to the bike. 'Come on, Yorito, hurry!' She called as he got off the seat. He got on the bike, let her get on the back and began pedalling towards the house.

The two reached the house when they found a girl of about Yorito's age and height, asleep outside of his front door. She had short dark brown hair and was still wearing her school uniform. 'Mana…' Yorito said blankly, looking down at her. Matsuri looked at Yorito's classmate and then at him. 'You know this girl?' She asked. 'Yeah, she's a friend from school.' He answered. 'Ishizuki Mana.' He added, unlocking the door, then going back to the girl and carrying her inside. 'Come on in, Matsuri, or the sun will rise.' He said, taking Mana in. Matsuri hurried in and shut the door, unaware of the events that had been set in motion…
