"Rylee Newman, please come to the main office."
Damn. Again? Why is it always ME who gets in trouble all the time?
I get up from my chair, grab my trapper and walk out of the room toward the office.
On the way, I see my friend Nathan in the hallway.
"In trouble again?" He says.
"Yeah." I grumble.
"Jeeze, Rylee. You really need to stop doing these things. What was it this time?"
"No idea." I lie.
Nathan waves and walks off to his classroom.
When I get to the office, I walk into the open doorway and go to the secretary who sits typing at her desk.
"In the office. She's waiting for you there." She knows the drill.
"Mrs. Nelson? You need me?" I say.
"Take a seat." Mrs. Nelson says with a sneer.
"I don't know why I'm here. Please inform me?" I say with false sweetness.
"You and I both know that you killed the mealworms used in your science class. Would you care to explain why?"
"I'm sorry. It was an accident." I mumble.
"Well, I'm afraid you'll have to serve a detention with me after school." She sneers.
I get up and walk out of the office toward my next class.
Science. My favorite class. Even though I somehow killed the mealworms, I still really enjoy it.
As I walk into the large classroom with science stuff stacked all around, I glance toward the mealworms on the counter. Unsurprisingly, the jars have been removed and put in the locked glass cabinet with living mealworms. Walking over to the trash can, I see that the mealworms I supposedly killed are shriveled, black and slightly smoking.
I think I have a few problems.
