The bird sang and spoke into his ear happily. Tweeting a language he could fully understand.

These beautiful creatures were free from birth.

'Free…' he thought.

Such a strange word it was. Never would he fully grasp the meaning of it.

'Caged…'

This was all that came to him, and all that he had ever known.

Metal walls. The clicks and clangs of numerous locks and chains being undone.

All to reach the beast.

Was he truly a beast? The title had been spat and thrown at him. His urge to slaughter and spill blood was out of his control. Was his indiscretion so disgusting?

He brushed his thumb lightly over the head of the heartily twittering creature again.

"Ah. It doesn't matter…now…" Jugo whispered to himself.

The bird only cocked its head to the side.

A small smile spread across his face. Is this what freedom felt like? A light feathery feeling. Like you hade all the time in the world and no one could destroy or steal it?

The thought almost amused him. The words free and Jugo sounded so odd together, but…

"Free…" he sat up, setting the bird up into the blue sky.

"Someday…I will be free…"

...I just got done reading five Naruto volumes all in a row. And now...it is...2:40 am. But the character of Jugo appealed so much to me that I had to write a tribute to him.

Hope you liked.
