This happens right after Kurumi Ragnorak where the Worst Spirit uses her powers to save Shido and realizes she is in love with him. But instead of running away in complete denial of her felings, Shido manages to seal her. But due to this, her powers go berserk and causes the other spirits to go Inverse. Read Date A Live Volume 16 before reading.

"Shido...about our bet...you win…" Kurumi said anxiously with tears in her eyes, but Shido couldn't see that since she wasn't facing him. She was too embarrassed to look at him.

"Kurumi…" He whispered.

"What I said just now, about saving you only to keep the spirit mana from disappearing, was a lie…" As she continued, Shido walked towards her silently so that she couldn't see him approach her. And before Kurumi knew it, he turned her around and kissed her, wrapping his arms around her waist so that she couldn't escape. At first she resisted, to ashamed of herself, but as time went by, she relaxed and returned the kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck. And as always, when Shido kisses and seals a spirit, their astral dress disappears, leaving Kurumi completely naked.

"So this is what's it like, to kiss…for real…" Kurumi whispered while blushing a little. Shido smiled and took his jacket off to cover Kurumi's nude body.

"Thank you Shido, I love you..." Kurumi said with tears in her eyes. This was the first (second time if you count the 2nd OVA with her clone) time that she truly felt this way about Shido. But the touching moment didn't last long. All of a sudden, energy began to form around Kurumi, and split into nine paths, headed towards who knows where, until…

"Shido! We got a huge problem!" Shido heard his sister frantically exclaims in his earpiece.

"Mana?! What's wrong?!"

"It's Kotori and the other girls! Something's happening to them!" Shido then saw a burst of dark energy appear in nine different directions, and when it cleared, Shido was horrified at the sight, it was the spirits, but in different dresses. Yes, the dark energy that he saw just now was of them inversing. Tohka, Yoshino, Kotori, Kaguya, Yuzuru, Miku, Natsumi, Origami, Nia, & Mukuro, all of them had inversed. It was his worst fear come to life, the girls whom he saved, have sunk into dark despair, and become Inverse Spirits.

"No...this can't be! How did this happen?!"

"Remember Shin, a spirit can only inverse by feeling nothing but despair in their hearts. So something must have happened in order for them to feel that way and turn them into inverse spirits."

"But what could have caused that?!" Kurumi tugged on Shido's shirt and he looked at her.

"Shido, it took me 203 times to save your life, and in most of those times, you were killed by Ellen in front of Tohka and the others, making them go inverse." Shido look at Kurumi in shock.

"Kurumi…"

"I'm sorry Shido, that it took me so many tries to get it right…"

"No Kurumi, you did your best, but please, I need your help again! Please help me save Tohka and the others!" Shido pleaded.

"Of course I will Shido." She said while smiling teary-eyed.

"Thank you Kurumi. Reine!"

"Shin, calm down. You've been able to save them before, you can do it again." Reine said in a calming voice, despite seeing Kotori and the others with negative emotional levels. That was when the spirits went on a rampage, each one of them using their respective powers to destroy the city. Luckily the city was evacuated and no one was in any danger, but the destruction that the spirits can cause could spread."

"You're right! Okay, let's do it!" Shido exclaimed with his fist tightened in a ball.

Shido and Kurumi were then transported back onto Fraximus so the blue-haired boy could prepare for what may be one of his toughest challenges in his life.

"Shin, there's not much time, but here's the plan, you will need to save the girls one by one depending on their danger level, with Yoshino being first to deal with. From there it will be Natsumi, Nia, Miku, Kotori, The Yamai sisters, Origami, Mukuro, and lastly, Tohka. You'll need to act quickly."

"Understood. Send me to Yoshino then." Before Shido was transported, Kurumi pulled him in for a quick kiss.

"Shido, be careful."

"I will Kurumi." Shido then got sent to where Yoshino was located.

Location: Shrine (Where Shido first met Yoshino)

"Well then, as Kotori would say, let's begin our date!" Mana exclaimed, having taken the position of vice commander while Reine has taken command since Kanazuki was no help due to being knocked out by the rest of the Fraximus crew (He was panicking and wouldn't shut up).
