A Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R, painted entirely in matte black, and barely illuminated by the moonlight.
That was the car sitting beside Sally's daily driver, a blue 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera, in the garage. The Skyline had always been covered in a tarp. Until, of course, Cruz's curiosity got the better of her. Needless to say, she was dumbfounded by the discovery.
"I didn't know she was into JDM.", Cruz thought to herself as she ran her fingers along the grille.
The black-haired and brown-eyed woman silently walked over to the right side of the car where the driver's seat was, as it was right-hand drive. She lowered her head to peek through the window. What was inside surprised her even more. The interior was obviously not stock at all, consisting of the framework of a roll-cage, bucket seats, dials, gauges, and a racing steering wheel with a nitrous button on it. Her eyes then locked onto something that was rectangular and sitting upright on the dashboard. Cruz took out her phone, turned on the flashlight, and pointed it at the mystery object. As it turned out, it was a framed photo of two young women who looked to be about Cruz's age. One of them was blonde with blue eyes, presumably Sally, and the other woman, whom Cruz didn't recognize, was shorter, had brown eyes and black hair with a purple highlight. The photo showed the blonde kissing the other woman on her cheek.

Suddenly the lights came on. Startled, Cruz looked up to see a blonde middle-aged woman wearing a nightgown standing in the doorway. It was Sally. Knowing she was screwed, Cruz straightened herself and decided to be honest.
"It's exactly what it looks like."
Sally scoffed, raising a brow as she walked up to Cruz. "I should have known you'd be curious."
"Don't worry, Sally. I'm not a car thief.", Cruz joked.
Sally laughed. "Oh, I'm not worried at all. Even if you were, you wouldn't make it very far before losing control. It's much more powerful than your race car."
To back up that claim, Sally opened the driver's side door and activated the hood release mechanism. She closed the door and opened the hood, propping it up with the holding stick. In the engine bay, in place of the normal RB26, was a twin turbo 2JZ with nitrous lines running into it.
"¡Madre de Dios!", Cruz whispered.
Sally nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it's totally insane. Wanna go for a ride in Speed Queen?"
Cruz looked away from the work of art in the engine bay and looked at Sally.
"Speed Queen?"
"That's the name I gave her, and eventually that also became my name when I was a street racer in Japan, before I was a lawyer in California."
Cruz shook her head in utter disbelief. "You? A street racer? I don't believe you."
"Oh, you'll believe me afterwards. Now get in.", Sally ordered.
Cruz didn't have to be told twice. She opened the passenger door and strapped herself into her bucket seat in with the harness. Sally did the same as well after getting behind the wheel of her pride and joy. Cruz looked at the framed photo on the dashboard again. She picked it up and showed it to Sally, who looked at it and gave an almost sad smile.
"That's me and my old flame.", Sally explained. "My first love. My Princess."
"Whoa.", Cruz almost whispered. "What happened to her? She still around?"
"She's living in Minnesota now. We keep in touch with each other on Skype."
"Aw, how sweet. Think we can visit her sometime?"
"I can't promise you that, Cruz. But we'll see."
Sally took out a remote from the pocket of her nightgown and opened the garage door. She then inserted the key into the ignition and turned it. The engine roared to life before settling down to a nice purr.
After a new moments of letting it warm up, Sally made sure the car was in neutral and mashed the throttle for a split second.
BWAAAHHH STUTUTUTUTUTUTU*
"Hell yeah.", Cruz commented, clearly approving of the epic turbo flutter which indicated a properly tuned car.
Sally switched on the headlights, put the car in gear and gently pulled out of the garage before the door closed behind them. Once they were out, they made their way over to Flo's gas station. They pulled up to one of the pumps. Immediately a dark-skinned woman wearing a green waitress uniform and white apron came out to greet them.
"Evening, Flo.", Sally greeted her. Cruz waved at Flo.
"Evening to you too, ladies.", Flo greeted back. "Mmmmm-mmmmm that's a fine lookin' car! Yours, Sally?"
"Yeah.", Sally said as she took out a twenty dollar bill and handed it to Flo. "I'm just taking Cruz here for a ride."
"¡Hijole! Check that out!", a male voice called out as a tattooed man came over them.
The man turned out to be none other than Ramone, Flo's husband. Sally and Cruz smiled at him.
"Hey, Ramone, you got any bottles left?", Sally asked him.
Ramone grinned. "Yeah, I got a couple. Just come over to my shop and I'll put 'em on for you."
Sally nodded. "Sure thing."
"There you go, honey! Topped off and ready to go!", Flo said as she took out the fuel nozzle and closed cap and lid.
"Thanks, Flo.", Sally acknowledge before driving over to Ramone's shop.
There, Ramone was already waiting for her and Sally, holding two bottles of nitrous oxide. Sally position the Skyline so the trunk was facing Ramone. He opened the trunk and attached the bottles to the lines that fed the nitrous oxide to the engine. He then closed the trunk and gave a thumbs up.
"All good!", he called out.
Sally and Cruz immediately peeled out, heading out into the night towards the interstate highway. Once they entered it through the on ramp, Sally shifted all the way to top gear and let the car cruise at roughly the speed limit.
"You sure it's okay to skip gears like that?", asked Cruz.
"Oh, yeah.", Sally answered. "As long as I don't do it too much. When I first started racing, I broke a transmission that way on an RX-7. Not on purpose, mind you."
"Ouch.", Cruz winced
"Yeah. Ouch. Another time I money-shifted and broke the engine."
Cruz shook her head. "Double ouch."
Sally laughed. "Well, practice doesn't make perfect, but it comes pretty damn close."
Cruz nodded. "True, true. So we're just cruising or are we gonna do some high speed runs?"
"Patience, Cruz. First we gotta find the Delinquent Road Hazards."
"The who?"
Just then, they saw four vehicles about a mile or so up ahead, three of them having neon lights, and a fourth shooting flames out the sides. They were weaving in and out of traffic, harassing other road users. Sally grinned.
"Bingo. Brace yourself, Cruz.", Sally told her as she closed both of the windows.
Cruz obeyed her, further tightening her harness in preparation for what was about to come. When they passed all the other ordinary cars, Sally downshifted from fifth to second to increase the RPMs.
Up ahead, the DRH crew were laughing off their latest act of idiocy.
"That was wicked!", Boost exclaimed on his radio to the others. "Let's go find a truck this time!"
"I dunno, Boost.", DJ said with concern. "Last time we did that, we almost killed McQueen."
But Boost insisted. "Don't worry, DJ. We won't mess up again."
"If you say so, Boost."
"Uh, guys?"
"What up, Snot?", Wingo asked.
NYOOOOOOMMMM*
Before he could answer, a car flew past them on the left lane at an insane speed, its engine letting out a wonderful scream at its limit. All they could see were four rounded taillights quickly becoming smaller and smaller as the car sped away from them.
"Holy shit! What the fuck was that?!", Wingo shouted in a terrified manner. "Boost?! Did you see that?!"
"Yeah, Wingo. Skyline. Taillights gave it away."
"A Skyline?! No way! Let's go after it, Boost!"
"No, DJ. Even I'm not that fast. We'll never catch up to it. That Skyline was doing at least 190, maybe 200 miles per hour."
A few miles ahead, back in the Skyline that was now slowing down and taking an exit, Sally and Cruz were laughing at what they had just done.
"I can't believe we did that!", Cruz exclaimed gleefully.
"So how fast were we going when we blew by them, Cruz? My speedo reads in kilometers and tops out at 320."
Cruz checked the screen on her phone which was currently running a speed tracking app. "We were doing 350 in metric and 218 in American."
She then showed Sally the results.
Sally was thrilled when she saw them. "Not bad for a car built in '89. Gosh, I haven't gone that fast in years! Okay, so what we're gonna do now is keep off the highway on this slower road and wait for them to pass by. Then we'll go back on and pull up next to them."
*a few minutes later*
"Skyline's creeping up on us, guys.", Snot said to the others.
Sure enough, the car he was talking about pulled up next to the four cars. It made its way past Snot Rod, Wingo, and DJ before settling next to Boost's car. The right window of the Skyline rolled down to reveal just the silhouettes of two female occupants.
"Roll race?!", the driver yelled to Boost.
"Sure!", Boost replied eagerly, even though he knew he'd be beat. "We go from 60! On 3!"
The Skyline driver and passenger nodded.
HONK HONK HONK* *VROOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM*
And they were off. The other delinquents increased their speed to catch up to Boost and the Skyline. Sally normally had an easy time destroying the competition but Boost was proving to be a formidable opponent. His car was equipped with a very sophisticated nitrous system that allowed quick acceleration, allowing him to jump ahead of the Skyline by three whole car lengths. But the Skyline was all-wheel drive, enabling it to catch up to Boost pretty quickly as they approached speeds of nearly 170 miles per hour. Sally and Cruz waved to Boost as they eventually got past him, making him see the "SPDKUĪN" license plate on the back of the other car. The two women stuck out their hands and flipped him off before speeding off and disappearing into the distance again, this time for good.
Boost smiled, realizing who had just beaten him. "It's her, guys. She's back."
"Who's back, Boost?", asked DJ.
"The Speed Queen."
