Chapter 1
Annabeth's POV
I run out to strawberry fields and search for him. It is the beginning of summer so that means everybody's coming back to Camp Half Blood. Then I see him and his sea green eyes lock onto my stormy gray ones. "Percy!" I call and tackle him with a hug.
"Annabeth!" Percy says, "I missed you!"
"I missed you too, Seaweed Brain," I reply. Percy gives me a quick kiss. His lips are salty and he smells like the ocean.
Percy has messy black hair and a mischievous trouble-maker smile. He's tall and muscular and EXTREMELY good-looking. "C'mon Wise Girl lets go to the canoe lake." Percy says, snapping me out of my "trance".
"OK," The canoe lake is where we started dating. Sort of. I remember it perfectly. It was Percy's birthday right after the titan war. The other campers threw us into the lake and Percy made an air bubble so I could breath. We had an underwater kiss. It was one of the best days in my whole life.
Percy's POV
As we walk to the canoe lake I wonder what Annabeth is thinking about. She's smiling and I have a feeling it has to do with me. We get to the lake and I jump in. Where's Annabeth? I think. I pop up. "Hey Wise Girl are you coming?"
"Yep! Get out of the way Seaweed Brain," She runs down the dock and dives in.
We were swimming all day and now its dinnertime. "Let's go wash up before dinner." Annabeth suggested.
"OK." I agreed.
Dinner's as lonely as always since I had no siblings I knew besides Tyson, but he's always working. Annabeth's not allowed to sit with me because she is a daughter of Athena and demigods in different cabins can't sit with each other for meals. I sigh and try to enjoy my pizza and blue soda.
After dinner Annabeth and I go for a walk in the woods. The night cool on my skin and it feels good but I want to go and wade in the stream. I am officially convinced Annabeth can read my mind. The stream is just where we go. We sit under a tree near it and watch the stars. When it gets late we go back to camp. I kiss Annabeth goodnight and we go to our separate cabins.
That night I have a nightmare. I am sinking into the earth. I have had this experience before, drowning in muskeg when I went on a quest with Hazel and Frank. I hear a familiar voice but it is much sleepier than I remember. "Don't think I haven't given up on waking again, little demigod," Gaea said. You may have delayed my waking, but when you die I will seek my revenge. I was running out of time. I couldn't breath. I was growing weaker. I was dying.
