"Fantastic," Ginny commented under her breath. It was her first class on her first day of teaching flying lessons at Hogwarts and already there had been an accident. Louder, to the class, she ordered, "Everyone keep two feet on the ground while I take him to the Hospital Wing. I will be back in ten minutes."
The class was silent as she helped the boy who had fallen along. As soon as the pair had left the quidditch pitch, Scorpius Malfoy spoke up, "What are we going to do now?"
Albus Severus broke into a grin at his friends question, "Well, Scor, we have a few options here. We can-"
"Stay on the ground and ignore Al so no one gets in trouble when Aunt Ginny gets back," Rose interrupted.
"Yes, Rose, that is a fantastic idea," Albus agreed. "Or," he continued, reaching into his pocket, "I could challenge you to a seeker's game," He finished, pulling a snitch out of his pocket. "We could finally resolve our life-long disagreement."
Scorpius let his Gryffindor-side show as he answered, "As good as your idea sounds, Rose... I'm going to have to agree with Al."
With that, Albus released the snitch and the pair took off. The class watched the game in awe as the pair corkscrewed around each other and dove in sync, neither looking for the snitch, preferring to show off for the class.
No one noticed that the teacher had come back until, from the back of the congregation, she couldn't hold back anymore. "ALBUS!"
Even 200 meters up, everyone could see his grin. He smartly touched down on the other side of the crowd from his mother. Though she had seen Scorpius, he knew her anger would be focused on her son, so he felt safe landing behind her.
"What exactly do you think you were doing?" she demanded.
"Well, Scorpius and I-" Albus began explaining.
"Don't you dare try bringing Scorpius down with you. You two have been playing together since you were in nappies." The class broke out in laughter at this. "I know exactly whose idea this was."
"I told them it was a bad idea," Rose spoke up.
"Thank you, Rose. You've always been a good girl," Ginny said, not really registering the comment. "Fifteen points from Gryffindor and Slytherin for endangering yourself and others-"
"But mom, you know we know how to fly. We've been flying for years," Albus argued.
"I don't care. You should have listened to me. Not that you've ever done that before," Ginny responded. "You will each be serving a detention with Filch: Scorpius on Thursday and Albus on Friday. And your fathers will be hearing about this. Class dismissed. You two stay here."
"Mrs. Potter," Scorpius finally spoke up. "Don't you think that's a bit harsh? A letter home? I realize we should have listened and stayed on the ground, but we weren't actually putting anyone at risk."
"It may seem harsh but that's the way it's going to be. You two, more than anyone else, should know to listen to the rules by now," Ginny explained. "And it will not be a simple letter home."
"You're not really going to send Dad a howler while he's on a mission because I flew, are you?" Albus asked.
"No, Albus, I will not send your father a howler," she answered, glaring at her son. "I will be telling your fathers over breakfast Saturday morning. They got back from their mission last night but there is still paperwork and a trial to go through so they will be staying at Grimmauld Place. Scorpius, you can stay over Friday night or just come up Saturday morning. Now, both of you get to class. And be good."
