THE FINAL DRIVE
AU. At the end of all things, it's not just Dean who finds his way home.

"Just feed me the stuff dude," said Dean; Castiel dutifully held the high fat shake to his friend's lips as he took a drink.
"This is a fine way for a handsome guy to end his days."
Dean looked forward to the visits of his old friend,; all he once knew was gone, Bobby, Lisa, even Sam, taken too soon.
Winchesters were built to last, but Dean had had enough. "Sunshine home for the elderly; seriously?"
Castiel looked at Dean with sympathy; he knew this was the last time he would see him here, he wasn't sure of God's plan, but hoped he would see him on the other side, and so did Sam.
"I have to go now Dean," he said.
Dean just smiled; "later dude," he replied …

One week later …
"Why?" She thought, "I've been loyal to this family since 1973. What did I do?"
When Dean eventually became too frail to drive her, she was passed to Ben, but she always thought he looked at her as if she was judging him; questioning his choices not to become a hunter.
For years she gathered dust in the garage, Ben would polish her, run her engine, but never drive her; it felt wrong.
Years passed, the polishing and engine running stopped, and there she sat.
She didn't know how or why, but something had changed in Ben. She knew Dean had finally passed away, and wasn't surprised when she found herself loaded onto a truck and taken to the yard. The magnetic ball landed with a thud on her roof, bettering her low to the ground; breaking her already weary back axle.
As the weight was lifted from her torn tires, she thought, "this is okay; it's not right that we're not together."
She was lowered into the steam crusher, soon she would be nothing more than a 6 x 6 cube.
As she settled, waiting for the end, she realised why Ben had done what he had. It was wrong for her to be here when her true love was gone and so she was content,
"I'm coming Dean, I'll be with you soon, babe."
