It was certainly a tiring day for me, I had no idea why, but I couldn't seem to concentrate whatsoever on my research no matter how many times I cranked my screw clockwise. And so, I laid my surprisingly aching body onto my old, drab sofa. "Hh..." I sighed, as my head set upon the armrest. Staring up to look at the ceiling, I realized that I really couldn't see it; it was far too dark. But that didn't matter for I liked it that way. It was rather... How do you say, habitual for me to stay within the darkness. At the sudden thought of habit, my hand automatically dug it's way into the courses of my lab coat pocket. Feeling around, the familiar box-like object came into my grasp. I pulled it out immediately and opened the lid to reveal the contents of, what I hoped to be several cigarettes. To my dismay, there appeared to be only one left. I sighed heavily, but pulled it out nonetheless, finding a match and striking it to set the cigarette end to a dull burn. As soon as I was content that the tobacco was burning inside its paper wall, I placed the opposing end into the care of my thin lips. A breath of instant relief was given to me; such a toxic yet so addicting one. I laid in my solemn content, simply trying to fix my mind to think in extraordinaire once again, letting the smoke whir and disappear into the brutal darkness. Everything seemed still and quiet, but then-

In a sudden jerk of an opening door and a flick of a switch, light flooded my surroundings. My eyes squinted as I was blinded by an unfamiliar state. At this, I decided that light was as brutal as darkness.

Soon, after my little shock, I was surprised by a figure looming over me. In a flash of red hair and black uniform, I confirmed whom it was, "Ah. Spirit. It's been a while." I greeted through puffs of grey smoke. His navy blue eyes glared down at me and scrutinized my features.

"You look horrible."

"Hello to you too."

Spirit crossed his arms. "Shinigami-Sama has sent me to check on you.." He muttered. "Oh really?" I replied with a pretending air of surprise. "Mhm~" He hummed in a sarcastic tune. "Well, I presume your done. Exit is where you came from. Make sure to turn the lights back off when you leave." I concluded, rushing him for I wished to be left alone and not undergo his usual lecture of not taking care of myself properly and blah. I finished the phrase with a quick drag from my cigarette, my eyes closed lightly as my free hand waved him off. He didn't budge. Of course. I peeked an eye open and looked at him; he was giving me the same look. It was quite bothering so I approached the matter, "What?" With a quick snatch and whip around of his hand, Spirit grabbed my cigarette away from my grasp and turned his back towards me. "You shouldn't smoke." Bluntness overrode his voice once again. My eyes widened in surprise as I heard the sudden inhale he took from MY cigarette. "O-Oi, Senpai.." I stammered, "That was my last cigarette..! What the hell was that for..?" Spirit continued his long inhale from the tobacco product and left a few moments of silence before he spoke up again. As soon as he finished, I heard the : "Fu.." of an exhale and the pitter-patter of the cigarette being thrown to the ground. This was followed by the groveling of a foot putting it out and deeming the remaining of the cigarette useless.

"Your health."
