Disclaimer: I own nothing Doctor Who-related, except some books and DVDs. My bank statement backs this up.
A/N: This started out with Rose in mind, but it ended up feeling very Sarah Jane-y to me. Feel free to review and offer any constructive criticism!
There were only two choices, really. You could have stayed and lived out your life, forever haunted by what-ifs and might-have-beens. Or you could go. And you did. And you saw things, and you learned things, and you did things that no one could experience without being changed. And even if you had known from the beginning that the path you finally chose would alter you so deeply that you could never again truly belong here on this small world, would it have made a difference? Knowing that, would it have been easier to live with the dreams of the road not taken?
And so you know that in the end there was no "choice," really. You've never been good with what-ifs, and you know that you would have been unable to ever silence the one that would have troubled you had you stayed.
