(A/N: The song is from RENT, called "Light My Candle". I absolutely love Broadway music and other movie music. So anyway... continue!)
Albus strode into Minerva's office. Minerva didn't even bother to look up, knowing that only Albus's robes could give her a migraine just by seeing them out of the corner of her eye. He walked in happy as a lark, and plopped down into one of the more comfortable chairs in Minerva's office. Minerva proceeded to ignore him, writing out praises for Hermione's essay on the properties of human transformations. Albus sat quietly in his chair, his patience quickly deteriorating along with his silence. Soon, he was audibly humming a tune, and Minerva found it quite annoying. Not only was it just quiet enough to be quiet but loud enough to be annoying, it seemed Albus could only remember a few lines of it, and was humming only those lines. Soon, Albus was almost practically shouting the tune through his teeth in his desperation for Minerva's attention.
Finally, Minerva just gave up. She sighed and said,
"And to what do I owe this most audible visit?" Albus quieted and looked at Minerva,
"Hmm?" Minerva barely suppressed the urge to roll her eyes and said,
"Why are you here? Aside from the intent of annoying me, of course." Albus grinned and said,
"Why, I simply had to tell you my new favorite song! I don't think anyone will ever be able to top these lyrics." Minerva, knowing full well that she was most likely going to regret it, asked,
"And what song is this?" Albus grinned his evil little "You-are-so-going-to-kill-me-later" grin, and sang in a rich, professional baritone,
"Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are
Far behind me…
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Oh way above the chimney tops…"
Albus let his voice trail away. Minerva continued to stare at him for a few dozen seconds more, amazed at his tone quality and amazing voice. Minerva let the lyrics run through her head, until it her like a ton of bricks. She groaned and growled,
"Of course. Troubles melt like lemon drops." Albus grinned and once again launched into the lyrics, this time starting at the start of the song, and going through it. Minerva grinned, and let her clear soprano join his low baritone. It was rumored that even the students snogging in the abandoned Astronomy tower were able to here the beautiful harmonies the headmaster and deputy headmistress created together.
When the song stopped, Minerva took a deep breath and launched into a most elegant and eloquent performance of "Light My Candle" from the movie RENT. Albus took a second to absorb the idea that his high up deputy would watch or listen to such vulgar music and a movie. Once he got over his shock, he joined in, singing the man's part.
"Your smile reminded me of…"
"I always remind people of, who is she?"
"She died. Her name was April." The couple continued singing their duet. They stumbled over the bit about "best ass south of 14th street", but they pulled through, although the suggestive grins and checking-out by Albus certainly didn't help. When they finished, Minerva slapped his arm, and ordered him,
"Albus Dumbledore, I have work to do. Now go bother someone else." She sounded very serious, but the teasing light in her eyes gave her away. Albus hung his head, and pretended to be dejected as he walked out of the room. Minerva shook her head and chuckled before returning to her papers.
