Disclaimer: I don't own Frasier. This story is similar to my Monk story, Electric Love. The difference is vast however. In Electric Love Adrian did what he did with no second thought. Martin on the other hand struggled with this decision for awhile))

Martin looked over at his beautiful wife. She was such a strong woman. She always fought for what she believed in. She was involved in a protest just recently and unfortunately someone had gotten hurt. Everyone involved in the protest had been arrested and convicted even though Martin seriously protested that situation. He refused to have anything to do with the arrest and argued with the officer the whole time. The good news was that the protesters were spared jail time. Instead they were sentenced to a new prototype of sentence called a shock bracelet. It gave off shocks randomly and the sentence was to be carried out for 12 months. It had been on for half a day so far.

"Honey," Hester said, "Would you mind putting dinner up. I'm not really too comfortable cooking right now."

"Oh sure," Martin said, "Or we could order a pizza."

"Sure," Hester said, "Or we could go out?"

"Sounds good. Where do you want to go?"

"Well we can go to Mattie's dinner," Hester suggested.

It was one of the places they both liked.

"Not a bad idea," Martin said, "I haven't been there in months."

Suddenly Hester gripped the table and took a deep breath in as a shock ran through her.

"Oh my goodness," she said, "Wow that one really hurt."

Martin sighed to himself.

"Come on," he said, "Sit down."

He led her too the den. This was really getting to be more then he could handle. He knew he had to pull himself together for her sake though.

Suddenly he realized he had the key to the bracelet. It couldn't be taken off because it was monitored but it could be replaced. He certainly could wear it. He was shocked before as part of his stun gun training. It would be a lot easier for him; much less painful as he was used to it and he loved Hester so much.

The problem was that he wasn't only a husband. He was an officer of the law. He had been sworn to uphold the law and this would not be upholding the law. It would be short circuiting the law. He didn't have the right to do that. Another shock ran through Hester and this one caused her to scream.
Screw the law, he thought, and grabbed the key. He knew what he had to do. After all the law of love had to win out in this case. It was a good thing too. Because unbeknowst to Martin and to Hester deep inside Hester was their first child... just a zygote now but soon would grow to a fetus and then a baby.
