Chapter 1: The Darkness Within
Leons PoV
I walked slowly around the Second District of Traverse Town, hunting down the heartless. All of a sudden I heard a sound. The sound of battle. It called for me to come investigate so I did. When i had arrived at the scene of the fight, i saw a young girl, in her teens, around my age, fighting off the heartless gracefully and elegantly. But these were also not weak little Shadows, the weakest of the heartless, these where large bodies and air soldiers, strong ones at that. I summoned my gunblade to go over and help her when she pulled off some attack that wiped out all of those heartless in one shot. She looked amazing.
She put her weapon back into its sheaf. Her weapon, from the looks of it, a silver rapier. I tried to get closer to her, to talk to her but she noticed me before i could even move. Her face looked worried and she started to run. It may have even been only but a small glance, but i will never forget her face, or her emerald green eyes. The small delicacy of her body, her light skin tone, her flowing brown hair, the color of fresh, rich earth.
The next morning was even more of a surprise. Me, Yuffie, and Aerith had gone down to have breakfast with Cid when he told us he had two people for us to meet. The first one we met was a blonde haired purple eyed girl named Kanei. She was extremely nice and outgoing. Her and Yuffie seemed to get along finely in fact they where so alike it wasn't even funny. But the other one caught my attention. It was the girl from last night. I know it. I could never forget her eyes, so beautifully green. "My name is Neliel Vermillion. It is a pleasure to be in your acquaintance " She remembered me. I could tell. Her somewhat worried look lightened when she saw me.
I just continued to stare into here eyes but they were soulless As if she where a humanized heartless. But part of me wanted to be the one who saved her soul and it was what i intended to do. I stretched out my hand reaching it towards her. "The names Squall Leonhart. But just call me Leon. Got it?" She giggled slightly and took my hand into hers. Her skin softer than silken snow.
Cid looked at all of us then finally spoke. "Kanei and Neliel just arrived into town, same way you did. We haven't found any open space for them yet so Yuffie. You and Kanei will share a room. Leon, you and Neliel will share yours." My face flushed. I've never actually had a girl stay in my room before more or less even be in it. She seemed pretty calm and walked over and took the empty seat next to me at the kitchen table.
She looked at me, smiling, her face softened and her eyes finally with a soul. "Shall we get going then?" I looked at her smiling face, then blushed. I grabbed her hand and we left the room without a word.
