It was the middle of March. It was roasting outside though then again it's Phoenix so it's roasting all year round. Phil my mum's new husband had just put the last of mine and Sophie's luggage in the car when we came out. We were going to stay with my dad Charlie for a while, well until mum and Phil found a new house. I was sad that I was leaving although we were only going for a month. It had been years since I had seen my dad as he was the chief of police and was always going out of town to lend a hand to the smaller towns. Sophie hadn't seen her dad in years so I don't know id it would bring up bad memories. I'll start from the beginning.
Flashback
"Mum where are you off?" Sophie asked her mum as she was getting in the drivers seat of her red Mercedes.
"Just to pick your dad up. You're going to stay at Gemma's ok," She replied in a loving voice.
Just as she said that my mum pulled up with me sat in the back. Sophie said bye to her mum and came and sat in the back with me. When we got home my mum received a weird phone call off Sophie's Gran, Sophie's mum and dad had been involved in a car crash and was on their way to hospital. My mum didn't tell us until she found out they had died. So Sophie came to live with us.
End of Flashback
We were on our way to the airport which was only 5 minutes away. When we arrived we made it a quick good bye and off we went. I hated good byes. I don't know why but I always have. We then boarded the plane. Sophie and me were sat next to each other. When we were half way there I took my phone out of my pocket and rang my dad. It rang a few time's and then went to voice mail.
"Try his mobile." Sophie said looking up from her book.
I then tried his mobile but the same thing happened. So I tried the police station where he worked this time he answered.
"Chief Swan," he said.
"Hi dad It's Bella," I said.
"Hi bells, where abouts are you?" He asked sounding happier now.
"About 40 minutes away, I tried the house and your mobile but there was no answer," I answered.
"Oh, I lost my mobile at home so if you need me ring here or home, and I'll be at the airport in about 15 minutes."
