Her hair was so beautiful. Extraordinarily so. It's what drew Rory to her in the first place, when they were children. The vibrancy of color in her hair. Like a bunch of crimson colored butterfly wings had latched itself onto Amy's hair, and had stayed there forever fluttering. It was shimmering and glowing with a sort of iridescence, like it was actually alive. Like it actually was a growing cloud of red butterflies. So beautifully red and so accurately describing Amelia Jessica Pond. Candy apple red in color. That was what Rory used to it when he was young. He used to call Amelia Pond, the Red Candy Apple hair girl. He used to follow her and call her that. And all the playground kids would laugh, but Rory didn't know they were laughing at her. When he was young he didn't know better. He did now after the first punch in his face when Amy found out. She yelled for hours about how her hair was not something to eat and that her hair was no candy apple red but just red. And how he was so embarrassing and how all the children were laughing at her and why had he gone and done that? And in those minutes of her extensive yelling, Rory Williams, fell in love with her. He remembered as vividly as it was yesterday the scarlet, golden dappled aura surrounding this small girl. He remembered the fire burning in her eyes, a slowly darker maroon red. Close to his candy apple red in his head. And he smiles so wide, yet so afraid of Amy Pond. Her brilliance could kill him, he knew. He knew her effervescence was so strong, so beautifully candy apple red that he didn't know how he couldn't have fallen in love with Amelia Jessica Pond earlier. He remembers once when he was little of smelling Amelia Pond's hair, when Melanie had shoved him into her back. A trick and a game. And he knows that it smells of sweet apples. Crisp and tart but sweet, like her. And he can't get the thought out of his head. That Amy Pond was the girl with candy apple red hair. That Amelia Pond didn't just have a fairytale name, but to Rory, she had the fairytale hair as well.
