Vanilla Pudding

Summary: its Daryl's birthday, Beth decides she's going to try and do something special for him.

"Ya ready?" Daryl yelled.

He exited the house that he and his blonde companion were looking though.

"Yeah just give me a minute!" she yelled back from the kitchen, slipping her findings into her grey back pack.

"Find anything?" he asked

"Some beans and ramen" she followed behind.

Making Sure the cost was clear, before heading to the next house He said kicking in the door, to the new house they were raiding. She helped him check, both going in to each room together. Once was clear they checked cabinets, dressers for anything that could be useful. Though after a couple of years, all the easy stuff had been taken so, so searching though, took more time became more profitable.

They walked back, to what was there home for the time being. A small ranch style house, big enough for two. The smaller house, the easier secured. They walked around the house, securing the yard and bolting up the door. They had both been exhausted, Beth was now relived, and that at least they had ramen to eat.

Daryl walked over to the makeshift area, where they kept the fire. There were plenty of open vents in the kitchen, so they didn't die from smoke ventilation. He started the fire throwing a few more sticks, from there collective pile on to it. Beth grabbed a pot from the cabinet and boiling some water for ramen, they ate in comfortable silence.

"Daryl? Beth broke the silence.

"Hmm?" responded

"I remember you saying a few weeks ago, that your birthday was in the summer?" he nodded.

"Well," Beth turned her back for a moment,

lifting something out of her back pack. A large smile on her face,

"Happy birthday dear Daryl. Happy birthday to you!" she sang.

handing him the vanilla pudding cup. His face that was once a bit confused, now smiled slightly, as he took the cup from her hands.

He opened it and took a finger full, then offered some to Beth who shook her head. "Nah I'm full thanks" he rolled his eyes, continued She noticed the smile, never left his face.

"How was it?" she asked when he disposed the cup.

"Good" he reply propping himself up against the wall.

She soon followed sitting beside him, he felt her move beside him his eyes opened when he smelt the nicotine

"It's not much of a present," she said handing him a pack of smokes

"Greatest gift I ever got." He said putting the cigarette in his mouth.

Beth leaned over to the fire grabbing a stick from the pile, catching some of the flame on the end and then lighting his cigarette with it. She threw it in the fire, and then sighed. She laced her fingers with his, and laid her head on his shoulders.

"You're too good to me Greene" his voice was low, laying his head on hers.

"You deserve it" she replied falling asleep.
