Beaches
"You do not!" Alex told her companion with a wry twist of her mouth.
"I don't what?" Bobby asked absently barely answering from where he had his nose buried in his notebook studying his notes and the pictures of the crime scene in his lap.
Alex made another face. She was driving traffic back to the squad room for them to check out some leads and the traffic was heavy. It took her a few minutes to get her mind back off the road. By this time Bobby had gone back to his notebook. "You said you hate beaches. You do not! At least you didn't when we took Nate down to the beach last summer and you got sunburn helping him build a giant sand castle."
"I didn't see any sand castles. Were they at the crime scene?"
"Bobby, pay attention!" Alex barked at him.
Bobby sighed patiently and closed the notebook. "Okay, what are you talking about?"
"You said you hate beaches. I'm pointing out that you don't. The sandcastles with Nate.."
"Eames, I…" He said in a pause in the conversation.
"…that ridiculous volleyball game Logan talked you into against the fire department…."
"That was entirely…."
"And let us not forget when you tricked me into wearing a bikini so we could catch that perv who was watching the sun bathers two years ago. I still owe you for that!"
Bobby grinned at his diminutive partner. That was one stake out he really had enjoyed. Alex hadn't. It had been hard to catch the guy when there were so many uniforms driving by hoping for a glimpse of her in the suit. It was also hard to find a place to put her badge in that skimpy suit. Where she finally put it made him smile.
Whack! She hit him on the arm. "That wasn't funny." She snapped at him, blushing.
"Ow! Stop that. Ross isn't going to like you injuring me before we solve this case."
He warned.
Her look told him that if it wasn't for the traffic she'd have hit him again, Ross be damned. "Then why did you say you don't like beaches?!" she demanded.
"I meant I don't like them for crime scenes, okay? I like them fine the rest of the time. Say is there any sign of another perp looking for….."
He ducked her swing this time and dove back into his notebook for cover. But the smile didn't go away for a couple of hours.
