Susan, leaned on the railing and gazed at the shoreline. She was deep in thought when Mr. Tumnus came up beside her. "Are you all right Susan?"

Susan sighed. "I can't believe he is gone..." Mr. Tumnus reached over and took Susan's hand in his. "He's not gone for good. He'll be back! Don't you worry." Susan gazed down at Mr. Tumnus's hand holding hers. "Mr. Tumnus?" She asked. "Hmm." "Have you ever been in love?" Mr. Tumnus let go of Susan's hand. "No, never." He left abruptly, not wanting to talk about it.

Susan turned back to the railing and watched the shoreline again. She loved to watch the waves touch the shoreline. She loved the froth the sea made and the sound of the waves as they hit the rocks.

"Very funny Peter!" Susan laughed at her brother, who was practising his battle moves, without the sword. Peter 'put' his sword in its sheath before saying, "I'm going to go find Edmund and see if he wants to go for a ride." "All right Peter. Please be back before it gets to dark!" Peter smiled. "Yes mum!" Susan rolled her eyes at her brother as he walked away.

Susan remained outside, not wanting to go inside at the moment. It was the first time since they had arrived in Narnia that she was able to sit in peace and just enjoy the night.

Susan turned around when she heard footsteps behind her. It was Mr. Tumnus and he was watching her with a serous look upon his face. "May I sit down?" He asked. Susan scooted down to the end of the bench she was sitting on. "Of corse." Mr. Tumnus sat down beside her. He didn't say anything but instead, stared up into the sky. Susan wandered what he wanted, for he looked as if he wanted to say something.

They sat there for a few minutes before Mr. Tumnus turned and said, "Do you remember the other night when you asked me if I have ever been in love?" Susan nodded. "I-I wasn't telling the truth." Susan didn't say anything, instead she just listened to him, eager to hear what he had to say.

"You know the girl who I'm in love with." Mr. Tumnus gazed into Susan's eyes, wanting her to understand what he meant. Susan eyebrows crinkled in thought before she asked, "Me," pointing to her chest. Mr. Tumnus nodded. "Ever since that day when Aslan saved me from the White Witches prison, and you were there with your sister. I...I think it was then that I fell in love with you." Susan smiled. "But we had never even met before that." Mr. Tumnus nodded. "It didn't matter. You were an angel, coming to save me...and then I got to know you and..." Mr. Tumnus shrugged. Susan reached over and placed her hand on Mr. Tumnus's arm.

Mr. Tumnus leaned forward and kissed Susan lightly. She smiled and said, "I've never been inlove but if this is what it feels like...it's wonderful!"
