Delaying the Inevitable
Quillin Xarxes
Look, Quillin wrote a Rocketshippy story! This was back when I thought James and Jess getting together was not cute (now I personally find it really disgusting... but that's just me of course ^_^) This one's a little depressing, but... well... read it.
They say it's my decision. Whether he is to live or die. They say there is no chance of him surviving. I should pull the plug now, I'm only delaying the inevitable.
"No." I say, "could we please wait a little longer?" They say I'm in denial. But I can't kill him now! Not when things are just starting for us!
Just four days ago, I would have fallen asleep already to the sound of James breathing steadily. In such a rythm that me and Meowth never fell asleep before James. But now his breaths are quivered and uneven, almost as if he is frightened of something.
I just stare at his eyes. They're closed now. I would love for him to open them, so I can see the precious green emeralds he keeps locked behind them soft, white lids. It would be easy for me to lose myself in those eyes.
It all comes back to me, that cold, dark night three days ago. A group of burglars laid ambush on us. They tried to steal our Poke'mon. They tried to steal our lives.
One of them had a gun. He cocked it, and aimed at me. I couldn't move. I was frozen, looking into the eyes of the holder of the gun.
James got up in front of me, blocking the shot. Time stood still as I watched him fall in front of me. He was hit in the chest.
I heard police cars in the distance. One of the locals had contacted the police department. The burglars fled.
I ran over to my partner, lying helpless on the ground. He tried to say something, but I stopped him.
"I love you James." I said as calmly as I could.
James just looked at me with his big emerald eyes and smiled, "I know."
His strength was gone. He squeezed my hand, and lay limp in my arms.
For the next three days, I kept watch on him day and night. Meowth tried getting me to eat something, but I couldn't. Not while watching my beloved partner being fed through tubes.
At night, I'd put my head next to him, and try to get to sleep. But I couldn't. I'd cry.
Before I'd go anywhere, I'd give him a kiss. And I so long for him to kiss me back!
I decide now, before I pull the plug and end my James' life, to say my goodbye. I hold his hand, and stroke the back of it. I can't believe it has come to this.
I grasp the switch, ready to turn it off and end all life support. But something stops me. James is holding my hand back.
