Preface

"pref·ace (pn.
1.
a. A preliminary statement or essay introducing a book that explains its scope, intention, or background and is usually written by the author.

b. An introductory section, as of a speech." - broken link

Hello, dear reader, I am here to regretfully inform you that I've added a preface to my story. I hope it dosen't deter you from reading, but I thought I'd use it to get a few introductory issues out of the way. So, informally and without further ado, here it is.

1.) Is this a fanfiction?

Twin Blades is more of a parody than a fan fiction. It is a culmination of every anime/manga, action, fantasy and love story I've ever seen.

The characters and events are original, but represent the most common story archetypes to a humorous degree.

So, if you consider "accidental parody" close enough to fanfiction, I guess it counts.

Oh, and on that note, please laugh at the historical and cultural mistakes I make...mostly names and dates.

If it's any language but English, I probably used a crappy online translator. Laugh at the nerdy English speaker and her mistakes. That's part of the beauty.

2.) Why bother writing this?

Why does anybody write anything? The need to share ideas? The love of carefully crafting words? To let out creativity and frustration? All that and more.

Parody or not, there is a reason behind it.

3.) Where did you get this idea?

Well, believe it or not, it wasn't inspired by watching old animes or samurai movies...

The idea came about in the midst of a pretty harsh fever. I took a sleep aid/fever reducer before I went to sleep one night, and I awoke at three o'clock that morning unable to go back to sleep.

I kept my mind preoccupied by running this story through my head.

I finally got back to sleep around seven o'clock, and woke up at ten convinced that I had to write and illustrait this story.

4.) When should I look for updates?

Monthly. If I'm a little late with a chapter update (henceforth referred to as an Episode), don't lose faith in me! I'll have it up asap.

So, In closing; It isn't a masterpiece, but it's something I hope you will personally enjoy. If this story reaches anyone, anywhere in anyway, then I'll consider it a literary success.
