A little one-shot about when Eep met Guy. Disclaimer: I do not own The Croods characters (Dreamworks)

Sunset

Eep's POV:

"Reaching, reaching, up up up above the clouds

'I can almost . . . it's gone.' Green eyes begin to water, as that last ray of sunshine slowly disappeared behind the distant horizon.

Alone in the dark she turns to go back, and then suddenly a beam of hope catches her eye. She looks to find a strange ball of light bouncing around. Running, running to it, unaware of where it will take her, but she's fast and unafraid. Suddenly, it stops, as does she.

Preparing to pounce on her prey she takes position and waits. Lurking, lurking as she surrounds it and her body begins to curl over the small ball of light that is on the ground, defenseless. She squats down and uses her hands and feet to maneuver herself forward as she finds the right spot. She lowly reaches out her hand as she watches this light dance around in the twilight. Her fingers try and maneuver to its every move, but are not as graceful as the fire, but every bit as intriguing. A single digit reached out as flesh meets flame, she cries out.

Trying to silence her screams with tears, she wonders why the light hurt her so. However it worked, she dared not to touch it again. She observed the area of her skin and saw how it turned red and swollen from the wound.

She placed her wounded finger in her mouth as she sucked on it and hoped the pain would cease.

Suddenly she turned, forgetting her injury as she sniffed the air. With one quick move she jerked her arms forward and found she had caught something, or someone.

'Caught you!' She looked down at her prey in confusion.

'Warthog monster?'

'Oww ow oww! You're hurting my neck!'

'Oh sorry. Wait! You talk!'

'Yes, humans do tend to do that.'

'Human!?'

He removed his mask and revealed his messy hair, the right side of his head with a rubber band that pulled back a section of his hair that was off center from the rest. She was in aww of how dark his eyes were, as well as how skinny he was. He looked deeply into her eyes and enjoyed the warm glow given off by the small ball of light.

'I'm Guy.'

'Eep.'

'This is belt.'

'Hi belt.' She waved.

They carried on in conversation for a while and were eventually taken on a wild journey across the mysterious forest as he was introduced to her . . . family. And they all made it through okay as they let the sun lead the way, taking them into tomorrow."
