This is a contenuation of my Prophet series. This is about three years
after Jean 's Death/ dissapearance so Raychel is about seven years old
here and John and Sara are about three. People often say "lets do it
for the children." The "children" this and The Children" that. Do we ever
really listen to the children, or are they just excuses? I Dunno, but it is
fodder for thought. Yer ol' pal, The Bud.
"The Child's Prophet."
"Daddy?"
"Yea, Ray?"
" Can I talk to you?"
"Aww darlin' you can talk to me about any little thing yer lil' heart wants."
" I know. When I Mommy coming back?"
" Ray, come sit on my lap, would you?"
" You know I will."
"You know Mommy died a little while after she gave birth to yer brother
and sister, right?"
"Right."
" Ray, what do you remember about yer mom?"
"I remember she looked like me and she always smiled. She always had cookies."
" That she did, half pint."
" She told me she was coming home though, and to tell you Daddy."
" She did?! How did she tell you that?"
" In my head, she talks to me all the time. She calls it a "Rapport?".
"I had one with her too, Ray, we don't know if what we'er hearing is her,
or echos of her."
" I don't understand."
" I don't expect you to ither, darlin. Don't understand it myself."
" I "saw" her though!"
"Did ya see where?"
"In a place with a pale man with a dot on his head."
"Was yer mom scared, Ray?"
" She was at first. But she tells me she's o.k. Aunt Marie told
me she was in heaven. Is Mommy an angel?"
"She said that?"
" Yes, is that real, Daddy?"
" Not all the way, but close enough. Did Mom say anything else?"
" No, Just give John and Sara a kiss, and she forgives you.
Daddy, are you crying?"
" Just a little, Half Pint."
" You were smoking your cigars again. Aunty 'Ro's gonna be mad at you!"
" Yea. That she is."
"Did Mommy mind them?"
"Naw. She jus' didn't want me smok'n round you sprats."
"I don't remember real well, 'cause I was real little, but what happened
to Mommy when she went to the hospital and didn't come back? I remember Uncle Hank
coming over real late."
" Thats something thats gotta wait a little, Half Pint. Yer gonna hate me
somethin ferice when I tell ya."
" Daddy, I could never hate you! We're pals!"
"Do you have a picture of Mommy I could have?"
"I got one of our weddin you can have."
" Cool. I found one of her with Uncle Scott."
"Who told you about ..."Uncle" Scott?"
"Mommy did. She was in love with him."
"Ray, Mommy really does talk to you, doesn't she."
"I told you!"
"Would you be willing to tell Grandpa Charles?"
"I'll have to ask Mommy. she's Not happy with him."
"Get some sleep, Half pint, We'll talk in the mornin."
"Nite Daddy."
"Night Ray, I'll be up to tuck you in soon."
"ok."
"Aww Jeannie, I hope your there."
