Entry: I hear nothing but rumors of war. What used to be said behind closed doors is now being shouted into the open. Speaking of this, there was yet another rally today, courtesy of Les Amis de l'ABC. Friends of the People. I truly pity them, I really do. It is a saddening thought to know that they absolutely no chance against us, against the National Guard. Do they realize this fact? Perhaps not. I will admit, to the silence of this book, that I have stood amongst the crowd, watching, observing. It was actually quite difficult not to become swept up in the excitement of the crowd. The young, blonde one certainly has a way of speaking. It makes you want to believe in them, in their cause. It is how I would think one such as Robespierre or Danton would speak. What they say, why, it sounds like the printings of Marat. Rebellious, yes, but filled with some sort of deep passion for their cause. I actually had to remind myself of my position so as not to join in their chants. "Vive la France! Down with the king! Liberty for France!" Of course, I left immediately at the first sight of police intervention. I felt a hint of betrayal to my role creep in as I left, but… it's simply a role I play. It's a way to make money, and God knows that I need that. How else can I support my boy? Sure, if it were only me, I imagine I would be out there with those boys, rallying and fighting for freedom. But I'm not alone, and I can't. I can't do that to Jaiden. Perhaps I could have… if only he had stayed… But I can't. I can't think of Ramin anymore. Stop. So, on my out of the throng, I risked a glance over my shoulder and was rewarded with a cold shiver racing up my spine. The people weren't cowering before the force. They were pushing back, fighting the authority. They're straining at the leash. I fear for the fates of the people and for our dear France.
