The Llama, The Duck And The Shower
Chapter 1
For the first time in two days I actually realised that winter was setting in. I had been too depressed to notice anything since my mum told Edward (my older brother), Suzy (my older sister) and me that we had to go stay with our crazy uncle we had never met before for the winter holidays. The worst part was that mum wasn't coming. She was practically abandoning us. We all knew it was for our own good now that a war was starting all because our new president "accidentally" peed on the Queen of England. All the children were to be sent to a safer place until the war had calmed down. So here we are now sitting on ripped train seats that smelt of urine going to a place we had never heard of before. "Can I have your last packet of peanuts Bella?" Edward suddenly asked me. I didn't reply as I was so sad but either way Edward grabbed my last packet of peanuts and munched happily on them. Suzy and I always thought Edward ate too much and he was definitely proving our point. The train finally came to a halt and we all collected our luggage and made our way down the narrow isle. We got out of the old train and carried all our heavy suitcases to the country intersection where we were supposed to meet our uncle who was apparently sane enough to look after three children for two weeks although I didn't think that was a true fact. We waited for about half an hour and started to think he had forgotten us. Suddenly we heard a loud noise something like an elephant but logically it couldn't be. Somehow I was proved wrong. We then saw a huge, grey elephant trotting towards us like an overgrown pig. On top of the elephant was a very old looking man in a pure white suit. The elephant stopped in front of us. We were incredibly confused. Then we heard a frail voice saying, "Am I over-dressed? I thought it might be formal." We continued staring at this insane man on an elephant. Was this our Uncle? It couldn't be. Surely our mum wouldn't agree to have this man look after us for half a month. Then finally Edward actually had the courage to ask, "Who are you? Am I the only one who sees an elephant with an old man on its back?" "You must be Edward. Your mother did tell me you were rude and obnoxious. She also told me too thoroughly refill the fridge and I can see why", squeaked the old man. He must think Edward was overweight but I don't and I don't think Suzy does either. The old man then lowered an old ladder that looked like it hadn't been used in a while and said, "Hop on." We were still utterly confused but climbed up the ladder in silence and sat on the two tonne elephant which our uncle called "Betty". The long trip was very bumpy and nobody had said anything until I gasped at the upcoming mansion that looked like an ancient castle.
