It started out like any other day at the office: with an argument…

"Really Commander Steve?"

"Yes. And don't call me 'commander'."

The former Navy SEAL and detective stood arguing nose-to-nose. Well, about as 'nose-to-nose' as they could get with their (major) height difference*.

Then, out of nowhere, Steve pulled Danny up into a kiss. Danny tensed up, wanting to push him away at first, but then Steve kissed him softer, more tenderly. Danny kissed him back, sinking against the taller man, and wrapping his arms around Steve's neck.

Steve pulled Danny even closer, his hands resting on Danny's back. He moved his lips in sync with Danny's, just enjoying the moment.

After a while, Danny pulled away, but Steve continued to plant kisses along Danny's jawline and cheek. "We should…" Danny started, but Steve shut him up with a quick peck on his mouth. "Really get back to…" And another. "Phone's ringing…" Steve kissed him longer this time; he heard the phone and really wanted to ignore it.

"You're too tense all the time," he whispered. "We're in Hawaii! Enjoy paradise for once." He leaned in to kiss Danny again, but Danny pulled away, an annoyed look on his face.

"'Paradise'? Since when does pizza with pineapple on it fit into the category of 'paradise'?" He unwound his arms from around Steve's neck to talk with his hands.

Steve laughed at his partner.

"And you!" Danny poked Steve's chest accusingly. "You certainly do not belong in the 'paradise' category. At. All. You—"

But Steve cut him off with another kiss.

"Like I said, way too tense," he whispered, smiling into Danny's lips. Danny seemed to relax considerably; he went back to having his arms around his partner's neck.

"You," he repeated, gentler this time. "You, I could try to get used to."

"What about the pizza?" Steve asked, smiling.

"No way in hell." Steve merely laughed at Danny's answer.

Danny shut him up with another kiss on the mouth.

Yep, just another day at the office.

*Scott Caan and Alex O'Loughlin do have a major height difference: Scott is 5'5" and Alex is 6'
