Hello, I am so so sorry about this. I don't know why all the words were missing...

Omg it took me so long to realize. Thanks to those who pointed it out

MORE A/N: I'm not gonna use the kun, chan, and those other names because I keep forgetting when to use which.

CHAPTER ONE

The Edgeless Emerald

Jirokichi Suzuki was at it again.

He had traveled to Britain and gained possession of a valuable Egyptian emerald. It was called the Edgeless Emerald, because it was perfectly round and polished.

He would make the front page, he just knew he would.

Jirokichi had built an entire house full of traps to house the emerald before he even got it. Each construction worker was checked thoroughly to not be the Kaitou Kid 1412, and had to swear an oath to not, under any circumstances, speak of what was inside. Inspector Nakamori had made sure of that. The blueprints for the house were privately drawn by Jirokichi alone, with no helpers.

He was 100% certain that Kaitou Kid would not be able to even get close to the Emerald. He was also 100% certain that the Phantom Thief would be caught, once and for all. And he wouldn't even mind if he had to share the front page with Nakamori.

Jirokichi sent a video of himself to the news, furiously challenging Kid to steal the Edgeless Emerald.
Only an hour after the news played the video, a text message was sent to Jirokichi's phone. He gleefully showed it to Inspector Nakamori at the police station.

I'll be at your fancy house to

steal the Edgeless Emerald

at 2 AM on Saturday

-Kaitou Kid

"AHA!" Nakamori yelled. "We'll get him this time!"

"Two in the morning?" someone asked.

A blond boy in a brown coat had joined them.

"And who are you?" Jirokichi demanded.

"Suguru—"

Before he could even finish, Nakamori had grabbed his cheeks. Once he was finished pulling Saguru's face like dough, he stood back grumpily, "It really is you."

The boy, who couldn't have been over twenty, rubbed his face, wincing. "I'm Suguru Hakuba. Detective."

"What cases have you solved?" Jirokichi asked suspiciously.

"This boy's a good detective," Nakamori said confidently. "He almost captured Kid a few times. He'll be a good addition."

"Oh. In that case, Kaitou Kid is coming at 2 AM on Saturday, as you heard."

"And today is Thursday," Hakuba nodded. "Guards wouldn't be completely awake at that time."

"Then I'll tell my officers to sleep early!" Nakamori shouted. "That's no problem. Kaitou Kid would be tired too!"

"Not necessarily," Hakuba mused. He was remembering how Kaito Kuroba had suddenly taken to sleeping in class, instead of running from a mop-wielding Aoko and causing mischief. "Kaito Kuroba—"

"Not this theory again!" Ginzo Nakamori snapped. "When Kaitou Kid stole the Angel Crown, Kuroba was at Tropical Land with Aoko!"

"But Inspector," Hakuba protested. "The movie is one time that Kaito could sneak out without Aoko noticing."

"There was not enough time for him to go back to the movie! I know what time he left, and when the movie ended. Stop talking nonesense!"

"I assure you, I am not…" Hakuba gritted his teeth and nodded. "You may be right. May I ask about the security measures?"

"No," Jirokichi said. "Only I can know about all the traps in the house. It's too risky otherwise. A good deal of the traps aren't activated manually, so we'll be fine even if something happens to me, which I doubt. And nothing, absolutely nothing, will happen to the jewel."

"Well…if you're sure…" Nakamori cackled loudly. "KAITOU KID WILL BE MINE!"
