Conversation in a Dream
Long ago in a village far away Beth was trying to sleep. She tossed and turned she just could not get comfortable. You see it was her first time sleeping in her parents house; since she ran away years ago.
Beth sat up in bed looking around her old room. The light of the full moon leaving errie shadows on her old possessions. She wondered why she could not sleep, why did she feel so utterly alone. Just as she was about to lay down again and try to sleep. She heard a noise coming from her old dresser.
The girl walks slowly to her old dresser. Not sure if she heard the noise or not, but curiousity grabs her and she walks closer to the dresser anyway. She puts her ear to the top drawer and waits. Nothing happens no noise not at all. She turns and takes a step away when she faintly hears, "Can you open the drawer?"
Believing herself crazy she just stares at the drawer. Not moving her hand to open it for a long moment. Believing it could be a mouse she turns on the lamp sitting on top her dresser. She opens the drawer partially she looks in the drawer. Inside was her old sock doll that her mom had made her. She gently picks it up and says, "What are you doing in the drawer you should be on my shelf"? She puts the doll on her shelf and sits on her bed.
When she hears, "I was in the drawer because when you ran away your mom sat in here for a long time crying and holding me. She kept saying over and over that she was sorry for the way she and your dad argued. She kept praying for you to come back home. Day after day she would come in and tell me, Will she is not back home yet. I wish I could have told her that I love her still; I miss my baby girl. The last time she came in here Joyce said, She came back I guess I do not need to talk to you anymore thank you for helping through this tough time. In the drawer you go do not want dust to get on you. You see since you left she felt a connection to you through me. Now you know that you are not alone. Your mom still loves you."
The girl and her doll did not see her bedroom door open and her mom standing there watching them. Until she hears ,The doll is right I still love you. You are not alone. I am just sorry that it took you leaving for me to see that. Can you forgive me? Beth hugs her mom and says, "I love you too mom. I have forgiven you already a long time ago. It was not your fault that I left and it was not dad's. I just wanted to get away from the arguing."
Beth wakes up from her dream saying, "I love you mom. I love you mom." Her room is bright with the morning sun and she sees that the doll is not on her shelf. She gets out of bed and opens the drawer and says, "It was just a dream." She puts the doll on her shelf and leaves her room. Missing the bright smile that appears on the dolls face. When the doll says, "Be happy now Beth because oneday you will be known as The Slayer."
THE END
