AN: wrote this during a lecture. I was thinking about the night imagery in Romeo & Juliet, and got inspired.
The underlines and bolds happened because I was editing, and then, I started playing with it and... yeah. I suppose I was thinking of the writing style of one of my friends [shout out to ninjacatchester!]. I figure she'll always be better than me at her freeverse bold/italics/punctuation stuff cause hers have a purpose. Mine, they're kind of random. Actually, this poem is rather random in general. .
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto.
tick tock tick tock
the only sound is your kitchen clock
breaking the perfect silence-
(perfect? far from. it is a void, nothing, empty)
and a delicate black sky outside your window
scattered with glitter
and gemstones of light and warmth-
(warmth? far from. these are cold, unreachable stars)
and the full moon,
a radiant, serene glow-
(radiant? far from. it is merely a pale reflection)
the night is peaceful and quiet
pure and still and untainted
(don't be deceived, child
the night hides secrets and violence and blood
silent death, dead silence
the only sound is your clock
tick tock tick tock
counting down the seconds left of a life
and was that a whisper of wind?
or was it your killer passing by?
killing you, killing hearts
even their own.
those silent shinobi are heart-killers,
masked by porcelain,
bonewhite-bloodred-blackasdeath
just like the night that conceals them)
...
(did you catch a glimpse of them tonight, child? she whispers)
(the shinobi?)
(the one the shadows love to hide?)
