One moment. That's all it was. One single moment for them to remember the one they'd lost. He'd expected it, had even braced himself for it. But he hadn't expected it to be so hard. Silence filled the District Attorney's Office as soon as he walked in. No one dared move, no one dared speak. He knew that they knew, but he didn't care. It didn't matter. Avoiding their gazes, he kept his eyes on the clock, willing time to speed up, but if anything, it went slower.
And in that single, solitary moment, with each second that ticked by, he could feel his heart breaking again and again.
