Davidson is the only character I own
Trudy always hated the dark. She found it to be depressing at best and terrifying at most. But it was so dark where she was… where she shouldn't have been. Thank GOD for Adrian. He had been the one bright light in this whole disaster. He had a fit where he saw all this going on and he had tried desperately to prevent it. He had been there every day. He stayed PAST visiting hours. He knew that she hadn't done it. He knew that it was a farce. Even her friends had been great. They also were fighting for her. Had they not been away none of this would have happened. It just was sheer rotten luck that they were and that Davidson happened to be there. He was a self serving SON OF A BITCH who couldn't stand Adrian for some reason.
She heard the key being put in the lock and her heart started to pound. It was Saturday. It was almost too much to bear but she reminded herself this wouldn't last forever. All of a sudden she found herself looking into gentle eyes. She heard a gentle voice. She felt gentle hands on her shoulders.
"Sweetheart," he said
At that she opened her eyes. Adrian was sitting right next to her.
She wrapped her arms around him holding him close.
"I miss you so much," she told him.
He held her for what seemed like hours.
"Well," he said, "I have not so great news, good news, great news and beyond amazing news. What do you want to hear first?"
"Anything," she said, "As long as I'm hearing your voice"
"The not so great news is that you had to be here for what felt to me like forever."
She couldn't argue with that one. It was true.
"The good news is that I solved the case. I know who actually committed that murder"
"Really? Who?"
"You won't believe this but it was actually Davidson."
Oh she would believe it. That bastard was capable of anything.
"The great news is that it's over. You're getting out of here first thing in the morning."
"THANK GOD," she said, "so I only have to spend 10 more hours alone in the dark"
"Not even 10 more seconds," he said, "move over"
"Huh?"
"Move over"
She did and he lay down next to her. She was still in that dark and miserable place but she was no longer dark or miserable. She was with him. He was there. She was no longer alone. In ten hours her life would change away for the better.
"You're not mad at me are you," he asked.
"Adrian I could never be mad at you," She told him, "you didn't do anything to be mad at about"
"I should have fought harder. I should have stepped in between Davidson and prevented him doing this"
"It still would have happened," she said, "I mean the guy had it out for you from day one."
With Adrian holding her through the night it passed quickly. She wasn't afraid. She wasn't alone. The next day came almost as quickly as if time sped up.
"Are you okay," her friend asked her.
"You know what," she told him, "I'm better then I've been in a long time. The nightmare is finally over."
