The Game
A flurry of footwork, a quick swish of her skirt, and she was gone again. Bel's thin lips cracked into an insane grin as he crouched atop a branch, waiting for his prey.
The prince loved hide and seek; he never lost, after all, and if anyone was good at waiting, he was.
That didn't mean he liked it, though.
Somewhere behind him, an invisible thread tightened… Bel's smirk widened. The spider has caught its dinner.
"It's my win again," he said in a singsong voice as he easily descended from the tree, eyeing the young girl entangled in his web through his golden bangs, "which means you will do whatever I tell you to do, won't you, la mia principessa?"
The girl only scowled at the approaching man as she tried to free her captured wrists; she had no chance against Bel with her hands tied. And when he came close enough, she shrunk back; no, she wasn't afraid of him, she just hated how he could see through her so easily when she couldn't even tell if this creep had eyes or not.
"It hasn't ended, Bel," she retorted stubbornly as the blonde bent slightly so that their faces were leveled with each other, "or rather…"
It was her turn to smirk now, and Bel's lips parted slightly in surprise when their surroundings began to melt away; when did he get caught in this illusion?
He straightened and drew out his box weapon as the sky flashed purple, and chuckled when the cries of a crow filled the air.
Yes… Bel loved hide and seek indeed, especially when it was his princess entertaining him…
EXTENDED ENDING
The forest behind Varia's lodging glowed a mystic purple just moments ago, but now, it was obvious who was winning; Bel's blood red flames licked at, and seduced, the elaborate illusion relentlessly.
Fran yawned a little as he continued to watch the little flirting match his seniors played every night; he didn't understand the point of it all. If they liked each other so much, why won't they just say so?
Lussuria only giggled at Fran's bored expression.
"You know," he said, wagging a hand at the boy as he too, looked towards the forest, "sometimes liking each other is not enough. A little courtship spices things up a lot more…"
There was another flash of bright red as the purple mist flames died off completely this time; the winner, as usual, was the prince.
"They should just get married already," Fran muttered, and, without waiting for a reply, he walked out of the balcony.
Lussuria glanced at the forest one last time before considering Fran's words.
"Is he… jealous?"
